they wont fit in standard fixture sockets no. when u buy a hps u get the light fixture, bulb and ballast. that plugs into ur wall fitting.

i dont know about 1000w but when i was looking at a 400 i was gonna buy it from Basement Lighting Hydroponics and Grow Lights UK

not sure where u live either so u might not wanna order from the UK if ur from the states or something.

I no the parts i need, ima order em, n put em together. I hear a hps of 400w will do good for the plants entire life, for a 4ft by 4ft area. I want to get the 1000w setup. Is that 2 much ? N would a hps be good for err thing or do i need a hps and a mh ?

i bought a 600hps of craigslist $80. no hps bulb will fit a standard socket. Grow cfls, thats the only thing you can do with a standard socket. and your nugs will come out the shit. like i said seach around for a good used hps. horticulture and hps go hand in hand.

Terro,

Firstly you need to understand that it takes a Ballast to run a MH or HPS bulb, they cannot just run off of a socket hook to the wall. The ballast acts as a transformer and maintains the bulb correctly...

Secondly you need to understand that it IS actually cheaper to buy a pre made kit than buy the pieces of a system and build it yourself.

Want proof? Go to this website... High Tech Garden Supply

They can sell you a 1000 watt HPS system for $239.99!!!
High Tech Garden Supply

Then go and search around for a simple ballast, socket assembly, hood, and bulb and add it up, and you will be over $350 in cost.

Htg can help you, get your light from them....

Also the system will be ten times safer being pre- assembled....

Cheers.

for a 4 x 4 area a 600 watter would be just right but hey nothing wrong with the 1K as long as you have good air flow in the room
