Steep Hill how does your process work for testing potency?

How much weed do you need for the test?
How much $ for a single potency test?

Thanks

Hi Hobbes,
We hope you're doing well! Right now if you're in Oklahoma or California, we are discounting our potency tests by 20%. To answer your questions:
1. Steep Hill how does your process work for testing potency?
For potency testing, a client submits a sample to us with a chain of custody document which lets us know the sample information and that they requested potency testing. The sample is entered into the lab where it is homogenized and an aliquot is taken from the homogenized sample to run the potency test on our HPLC after that the data is analyzed then reviewed and approved as results in the form of a certificate of analysis.

2. How much weed do you need for the test?
We ideally need 2.5 grams to allow sufficient sample mass for a potential subsequent retest if needed or requested, but 1.5 grams is the minimum sample mass we require. We also recommend more if you are trying to create a composite representation of a multi-pound batch of flower and to compensate for potential variability within the grow.

3. How much $ for a single potency test?
$75.00 retail but we are always willing to negotiate on pricing based on volume.

If you have any more questions feel free to DM us through Rollitup! You can also visit this link https://linktr.ee/steephill for more information :)
Hope this helped!

You didn't answer the question regarding the submittal of samples. It's my understanding that they need to be submitted in person and not through the mail which would be a violation of federal law to use the postal service. Here in Oregon it also appears that all of the testing laboratories require you to have a commercial growers license. Do you have those requirements? You can't just be accepting samples from anyone through the mail.

Could you clarify the requirements for submitting a sample for testing? Thanks.

Hi xtsho,
Thanks for asking!

You do have a couple of options for submitting samples for testing. One is that we do have a lab we partner with that we work with in Portland OR, Evio Labs where you could possibly submit your sample under the same promotion if you're interested.

If you're located in either Oregon or California you're more than welcome to submit a THC-containing sample in person at a Steep Hill Lab (or a partner lab, like Evio)! We recommend calling your local lab to see what stipulations there may be regarding licensing. If you're located in Oregon specifically, you can contact [email protected].

Be sure to include your contact information in the package and use our fillable PDF chain of custody form that we can provide you so that we can process your samples upon arrival. Download the form, and open it in your browser to fill it out electronically. When your samples arrive, we will give you a call and run your credit/checking card over the phone. A purchase receipt will then be immediately sent to you via email.

For CBD/Hemp Delta 8 or other non-THC customers shipping samples across state lines, it's recommended to please include with your samples a written and signed statement declaring the samples are industrial hemp-derived only, and that the THC level is believed to be below .3%. Also include any Certificate of Analysis you can provide to substantiate the hemp-derived claim from the grower, seed company, or product manufacture, and a copy of a permit for the cultivation of commercial hemp validating the non-cannabis claim. This is not legal advice and is only based on our experience receiving samples over the last 13 years in business, and current interstate regulations around Hemp and CBD according to the Farm Bill, Case Law, and other statutes surrounding the matter.

To get started testing you only need to provide your email for us to forward the chain of custody and other account setup documentation. Complete all documents and send them with your sample(s) to the laboratory where an account will be created, and your sample(s) processed. When the results are complete they will be uploaded to the customer portal online where you can log in to view and download your reports.

I hope this answered your questions!

Please DM us for further inquiries :)

Best,
Steep Hill Team
