I don't think this statement is entirely accurate...haha. If you like the city, Portland is the only one. And as far as crime goes in a city, Portland is not bad, at all. If you like the country, take your pick. Southern Oregon is nice and sunny during the summer, and rainy, sometimes snowy during the winter. East of the Cascades (2/3 or so of the state) is VERY sunny, warm during the summers, cold and snowy in the winters, and a high desert. Mostly very small towns.the further north you go on the I-5 the more crime and the more rain
the futher south you go the less crime and less rain.
On the coast, very small towns with limited good weather. Mild winters, but rainy and overcast.
I went to college in Southern Oregon, and it is really nice. But don't let anyone fool you.....just about ALL of Oregon is fucking awesome! I lived 10 years in Brookings (on the coast and awesome), I lived 10 years in Bend (Central Oregon and it is awesome), I lived in Ashland (Southern Oregon where I went to college and you guessed it, AWESOME), and I have now lived in Portland for 4 years, and again, I love it! Overall, we have a great state, with very low crime rates.
Oregon is a beautiful state. All over the place, lol.
