Quantum 1000w or Phantom 1000w?
I've heard these are two of the best is one better than the other? I have raptor hoods is one going to make a difference.

Although every dealer tells me that the failure rate associated with this ballast is one of the lowest, I have had a 100% failure rate. The cooling fans that are supposed to keep the ballast cool, are junk! I have spoken with their tech department and was told, 'that they are designed to run without the fan functioning, which is true, but the temperature of outside metal encloser can get hot enough to light a kitchen match! Not good! The ballast has an internal temperature disconnect, which drops the power to the unit when it reaches a certain temperature. When the unit cools, the switch resets, and the whole process starts over again. The unit does not have trouble light to indicate that there is a problem, so the average person wouldn't even know what was going on until whatever they were growing started not growing well or worst, they have a fire

I have always been pleased with my 400w galaxy ballast and when it came time to pick a 1000w i was really stuck between the 1000w galaxy digital, and the phantom. I decided to go with the phantom ballast and a digilux 1000w HPS, and so far can say im very pleased.

Its been about 2-3 weeks and everything works great. I love the select a light percentage on the back and the green light ups that tell your selection.

it does get a bit hot, but thats probably because im use to the 400w's. I will be wall mounting this ballast with a very tiny fan near by, and will plan on buying a second phantom here soon
BOTTOM LINE Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

My main concern is yes I've heard the fans do go out, and the phantom is made for the raptor hoods, while with the quantum I need an small patch cable to plug ballast to hood. I have magnetic ballasts so anything cooler than those will be an upgrade.

Yes thanks to everyone for all the input. I've decided to go with the phantoms for the simple fact that will easily connect to my raptor without buying any special adapters. I paid 260 each and bought 3 of them. After 250 + the adapter cord for my hood = a little over 260 for the Quantums. Plus after doing some research I believe the phantoms to be just slightly more reliable due to the fact that they don't have an internal fan that will inevitably go out. That little fan that WILL go out and the extra adapter needed for my hood is all that kept me from buying quantums.
Overall I was told they are both good quality but the phantoms seem to just have an edge on reliability.
and yes they will mount to the wall as designed.
