Which growing medium to choose?

i got to choices for growing medium first is coco peat but since there is no good cal mag mix on sale where i live i gotta make my own cal mag mix using CaN and Epsom the second choice is this premade compost but im not sure that the organic matter might have extra nitrogen in them and if any,the slow nitrogen build up would lead to N tox in late bloom
here is the ingredients in the premade compost: rotten leaves,coco peat,perlite,peat moss,vermicompost,rice hull and sand tea
im growing two blubbery bliss auto fems from vision seeds currently one week from the seed and in coco
peat which one should i pick for my final grow medium?

Soil is a lot more forgiving, but also more prone to bugs. To each their own! If I had enough money I'd prolly grow in straight perlite. Just my option tho, we all have our own opinion.

looking at my soil mix would it be safe to use from seedling to chop?man N tox killed my last crop dead

Hello again joeparak, i would suggest soil such as biobizz allmix premade. You will save yourself many problems and you will not have to monitor every little thing, you will not have to massively watch water ph as the soil will buffer it, and you will not have a nitrogen build up because you should flush your soil every few waters to get rid of any built up salt and nutes

Yes, everyone says biobizz allmix is too hot for seedlings but i have done over 15 grows using it without a problem

If you give any soila good flushyou will get rid of built up nutes

What would your mix be ? Pre made or homemade ?

really? why just perlite..? i think the hydroton would be a better media.it hold the water/nute better, last a lot longer cuz it can be washed.. its better than even the #4 size and you will get a funky algae growing on top of pots. ive tried it.like that and it sucked...its a good additive with coco or soil 75/25%. imho

I am a strong believer in under watering. I bottom feed in cloth pots in a flood/drain system indoors. Outdoors I use soil. I currently use 50/50 coco perlite and don't like how wet it stays. I did a small batch of (ghetto) aquaponics 100% perlite and loved the results. If I had unlimited money I'd have an aqua ponic grow house, all perlite, and supplemental leds.

i live in iran n aint no amazon place here brother plus all the cal mags on sale got truckloads of N in them so i had to improvise the cal mag by mixing my own
the ingredients in the premade soil i got is in the post tho im still not sure which one to go with coco or the compost soil
my coco mix was premade so im not sure whats in it but looks like coco+perlite but the guy i bought it from said i have to add nutes to it so..which one would you pick?

Compost soil. Sounds like a good blend and ur plant will suck down all that nitrogen before bloom. Coco is fun if you want to do hydroponics.

Do the soil mix. Just make sure the plant is hungry before you start adding nutes to your water. Plant should eat everything from the medium and thus any N toxicity, in theory, should be induced by you over ferting after the fact.

Soil every time imo, saves messing about and you will get better results using soil and having a couple of slipups rather than a minor mistake in coco and losing a wholecrop.... use soil, get it to have good drainage and do your first grow, get a feel of how nutes work, harvest, have a nice smoke and plan your first prohydro grow again knowing if all else fails you have the skillsand experience of a soil grow if needed.
