Which light for seedlings?

Hello I am on the forth day of my seedlings and was wondering to have them under either a 100watt incadescent light bulb or a 40 watt incandescent flood light. I know both types I just mentioned aren't going to work very well, but I was wondering which would be the best choice out of the two until I gather some money to buy fluorescents. Thanks

do you mean you have four day old seedlings? or you have seeds in the ground for four days? if they haven't sprouted, i would go with the 100 watt incandescent to keep them warm. actually i would go with the 100 watter either way because they need as much light as they can get. just don't get it too close to burn the plant. you should try cfl's if you are worried about money. :peace:

Neither buld is putting out useful light. It is the wrong spectrum. You can pick up a CFL for 5 bucks at almost any store. Buy the biggest you can afford, they screw into any base. They give of less heat, and better light.

Your plants will thank you.

I know you said which is best but wal-mart assuming your in the US sells shop lights (Fluorscent fixture) for 10 bucks and tubes for 8-9 bucks for two thats all I use for veg those other lights won't work very good

The floodlight, all the light is focused in one spot rather than radiating out in every direction. Make sure it as close as you can get without overheating the plant(s).

I agree with StreetRider you should definitely pick up some CFL's... very inexpensive and can screw em right into a regular light socket. No hassle :-) But until you get to the store I'd definitely stick with the floodlight!
