ok so for now ive put my plant out in the garden, there is around 7 hours of hot sunlight on the plant so im guessing its good for now.
i wanted to buy one of these lamps so that i can put my plant indoor so no one will see it grow outside, there are 2 options.

1- HPS http://www.svetila.com/en/light-bulbs-lamps-66/for-plants-and-aquariums-126/hps-plantastar-250w-grolux-6050.html for growing + flowering.
2- 120W spiral fluorescent cool white.

im really new to this so i want to make sure that what i buy is the right thing.
also if you suggest something else i would be happy to take it
thanks.

i would also like to state that the fluorescent costs abit more than the hps which is wierd to me since the hps does both stages..
im gonna be growing max 2-3 plants each time. i hope i can get something out of the first time.

who said cfls dont do both stages. in fact, you can get different color cfls anf hps is only in one range.

hps is def a better choice than cfl. altho it all depends on what type of growroom you want to have.

my first time i went ahead and spend a few extra $ on a complete tent-pack and i still dont regret it. best money i ever spent!
CFL is also good, but you will get lower yields and more airy buds.

definitely go hps. also, many people use hps for both stages but technically you want to use a metal halide bulb for veg and then a hps. the gender neutral reference to these lights is HID (high intensity discharge)... good luck!

so it doesnt matter if im a beginner?
i thought of going towards the cfl, but the hps i provided here does both grow and veg.
i dont even know what a ballast is and what its for.

first time i grew i started with 0 experience or help. just tried to read books and read around on forums. there are lots of neat advice for everything if you just google it for example.
meaning HID lights are def not "pro only" equipment as long as you know what other components you need.. lets say do your homework?

For starters, how big is/will you make your grow area? hight lenght Deep?
how many plants do you want to grow?
what type of quality and quantity do you want/need?
Are you feeling you wanna grow and you could spend a few 100€ to acctualy get started with top notch conditions or do you just want a stealthy grow with cfls?

~25celsius is said to be the perfect condition for MJ. Tho its acctually impossible to say due to every strain being different. but 20-30celsius is said to give optimal growth. so whats really important it to have good ventilation and enough light. more light = more yield and quality. ofc too much light can also be bad depenting on genetics.

best regards

see that bok that comes wit the bulb and hood that is aballast is needed to fire up a hid light

cfls have them built ito the solid big area that gets hot
hps or mh

no way i can get hid light, i dont have a big area to grow and right now its summer where i am its so hot in my room with the fan that i cant have extremely hot lights, i think i will go with either the hps that is combined both veg and grow or go with a fluorescent light, i have a room for only one large plant when it matures so i can only do 1 or squeeze 2 in somehow... is the fluorescent light i showed (the spiral) good enough for me to grow and veg?

i cant tell from your link if that cfl is a true 120w or an equivalent to 120w incandesent type but if it is the true 120 they put out a ton of heat.

I put the txt from that page into google translate and it says that it fits into an e40 socket. So it is true 120w. I use the U shaped cfls and yes they put out a bit of heat but nothing compaired to HPS lights. But I would recommend one for flower

First, I'm kinda surprised no one from outdoor mentioned that your current plant in 7 hours direct hot sunlight could actually be a little much depending on the age of your gal, the time of day over which that 7 hours occurs (7a to 2p or is it 10a to 7p or what?) and the temps. the plant is experiencing. Anywho, this doesn't get to your question about lights but if your plant is getting the heat of the day direct sunlight you might want to move her into some shade between 2 and 4pm...as for lights, i would suggest Jorge Cervantes grow bible then about 2-6mos reading on forums (depending on your reading comprehension speed and free time).

The majority of people will tell you HPS is necessary for dense good buds but i think they're just giving you the condensed conventional wisdom for someone who really is just looking to get a harvest of decent quality; however, if you give us a little more info about your goals, how much time you want to spend on your gardening, how much medicine you need to produce (and from the sound of it, 2-3 plants sounds like you're just looking to keep yourself supplied). Once we know all of this we can better direct you to the different subfourms in which you will find a plethora of information. Don't forget to read the faq on how to use the site and the rules 'n sich 'cause things like the "search thread" tool are very useful in trying to find the answers to your questions without having to stat a new thread.

short answer: mh/hps HID is the more traditional route; PAR T5 and LED are the more new age route; CFLs definitely work and you can certainly get dense buds but it takes a lot of time and bulb management, spectral balancing, and is somewhat strain dependent. they all CAN work depending on the amount of time and effort you put into them.

thanks for such an informative post.
my goal is to succeed, i have never done this before so any harvest which will be smokable and give a good enoug head is enough for me, after i achieve this i will go into it more.
my mom has a disease called lupus, anyone familiar with this disease and how it reacts to marijuana?
