Which light would you choose? HLG550v2 or Optic8+

I have narrowed it down to the HLG 550V2 and the Optic8+.
Ill be growing in a 5x5.

Better yet build your own. I built my HLG 550v2 for about $500.

Building a fixture really is much cheaper but if you're set on choosing between those 2 lights and absolutely dont want to build, want a warranty, and a guarantee, the HLG550 wins hands down. Don't even consider that overpriced optic bullshit. It's just a SunPlusLED. They have their "Pioneer" series of lights that are all of optics options. Pretty shady.

Awesome, thanks for all the help. I was leaning towards the HLG but I just wanted some more input.

In the future I plan on building one, any good guides you know of?

Heres a rough guide...

Theres 288 v2 (lm301b)3000k slate and board combo you can buy here for cheaper than HLG...

All you really need is aluminum angle I used 3/4 x 3/4 x1/8. And put it together.

Fuck yeah. Thats exactly what Im looking for. Ill probably go with Atreum and build something just like that. Ill post on that thread once I get my stuff. Thanks bro.

The hlg 550 is not enough power to light up a 5x5 properly, its only 475 watts and 1178 umol

The hlg550 is good for a 4x4 but definitly not great for a 5x5.

For reference a gavita LED is 1650 umol and thats the kind of power you need to light a 5x5, properly.

I went with a BC Blondes 680 game changer for my 5x5 and i absolutely love it, SUPER even coverage and super intense par.

I got the hlg550 tent combo. Its a set up ready to go. Ill def get that BC Blondes 680 Game Changer for my 5x5 in the future if I don't build a light myself, although a warranty is really nice. I'm glad you showed me that cuz Ive been looking for something to light my 5x5 that's not overly expensive or blurple. I'm hyped to get this thing going! My plan is to use use both tents and possibly get a perpetual going.
