White Cookies Closet Grow

Hello, new here to RIU and this is my second grow ever, so keep that in mind as your following me along and please feel free give me any suggestions along the way. I like the idea of using organics, and knowing that end product is free of man made chemicals won me over to organics side of growing. My first grow was Nirvanas White Castle that went well, thanks to all the good information I found here at RIU as well as Subs super soil.I learned from that grow FFOF comes a little Nitrogen rich, or at least the 2 bags I got were. So that inspired me to mix my own soil so I could have consistency and control from grow to grow to learn from. So here's my setup.

This is a closet grow with seperate veg and flower side, so Its a perpetual grow. Each side is 2ft x 4ft and 8ft tall. Veg side lighting is 4, 4ft T5's And flower side has an Apollo 400w cool tube HPS. It's vented into an adjacent room using a 4" ipower fan with a carbon filter. There is a 4 inch passive intake on the flower side and the veg side just pulls air around the door since the T5's don't generate much heat. As for my soil, I'm using equal parts peat, EWC, and perlite. As well as 3 cups amendments per cu/ft which includes kelp meal, Espoma garden and tomato Tone, as well as Dolomite lime to help buffer the peat base, and a touch of azomite. I let the soil cook for about a month. It had lots of white fuzzy goodness on top of the soil for the first couple weeks so feel confident that my soil is "alive" and well.

I germinated 2 seeds using the wet paper towel method and they both showed a tap root within 36hrs. I planted them in Light Warrior where they stayed for about a week until the roots were protruding from the bottom of my small cloning tray that I was using. I transplanted into 1 gallon plastic pots with the top 2 inches of soil being a 50/50 blend of Light Warrior and my own custom soil, to help ease the roots into the more nutrient rich environment.
So right now, the 2 seedlings are about a week and a half old and looking good. I just did the first foliar spray of neem and made sure to spray the surface of the soil. I had a short lived battle with gnats on my first grow, so to stay ahead this time Im being more proactive. Hopefully it pays off. Here they are at about 15 days from breaking the surface of the soil. IMAG0228.jpgIMAG0232.jpg IMAG0232.jpg
And here is my first grow, White Castle. Should be harvesting in the next week or so.

Thank you! And yes, I've done more reading than growing at this point. There is a lot more to it than I originally thought. But this is right up my alley, I love learning new things.

The foliar neem spray didn't slow these gals down a bit! But what causes the wavy leaves? I had the same thing on my first grow, it didn't seem to affect the plants at all. They grew out of it last time. I just want to make sure its not a tell tale sign of something. IMAG0235.jpgIMAG0236.jpg

Mine seems to be similar to my first grow in terms of speed of growth. But I've noticed these White Cookies have purple stems. Are yours purple also? I'm assuming it's genetics since they don't appear to be suffering from any deficiencies......yet.

My first run of White Castle was 8 medium sized plants. That worked well when vegging with the T5 fixture, but having only 2 plants now, I feel like a lot of the light is wasted. So I have a 250w CFL with a wing reflector on the way to help put some lumens over the plants. It should be here in a couple days. I'll post some pics of the new setup when it arrives.

Day 28 of veg. Still just tap water. The first true leaf on one of the plants has shown a slight nute burn. But just the one leaf on one of the plants. I plan on vegging another 2-3 weeks so I figured I'd top them in the next few days. And maybe throw a little Espoma Garden Tone down just to get me through until I transplant to 7 gallon Root Pouches. I took a close up of the leaves trying to show a little lighter green between the veins. Is this anything to worry about?IMAG0273.jpgIMAG0265.jpg IMAG0274.jpg

I fully understand! I hate reading, in fact I've only read one book cover to cover, and the author of that one was Jorge Cervantes :bigjoint:

Here's a quick update. Taken at about 4 and a half weeks. The side branches are filling in nicely. Another couple weeks and I'll transplant to 7 gallon root pouches, veg for an additional week to let them get cozy in their new homes and go 12/12 under a 400w HPS.
