WHITE FLYS!!! final weeks of flower, what do I do??

So I have 20 beautiful ladies that unfortunately were re infested by white flys. I had the problem initially when they were just little babies and I took care of it with neem, then followed up every ten days for about a month. Problem went away and I didn't really look into how to control it once flowering started. I noticed a few were back about two weeks ago, (almost four weeks into flower) and I gave them a light spray, being careful not to hit the buds too much. Its now 6 weeks into flowering and they are back in force! The plants still look fine, there are a few leaves that have some obvious snacking on them, but they are multiplying quickly. Is there anything I can do this late into flowering?? I looked everywhere for info on white flys and I found people talking about dunking the plants completely in water? Im not sure Im willing to take such a bold move... Was thinking maybe I should just harvest early....???? Any input?

no no don't early harvest! The THC is still good in sick infested plants. Do NOT Early harvest better to grow bugs and THC than neither.

One safe best bet is to knock then back some with soap water. The soap water works by coating the insect in a soap bubble and suffocating it. You can buy an insecticidal soap or make your own with dish detergent. It is harmless. It wont completely control them but you can sit there and spray them down it will slow them down some with out harming your harvest. It is good to wash the soap off your plants with regular water. You can start this now.

You could order some predators from www.naturescontrol.com. Those guys are really cool and you can call them to discuss your pest problem.

All this advice assumes you are dead set in wanting to stick with something safe and non toxic stuff. If not knock them back with real poison. Hit them hard with chemicals. Then take your whole harvest and make bubble hash. Google "ice-o-lator". These bags make hash with screens and water. The cool thing is if your insecticide is water soluble (make sure it is) all of the chemicals will be washed off your hash. This way you still maximize your THC production, kill the basterds, but get hash not weed.

Try to save the plants and harvest when they are ready.

Good luck

If its real bad you could always bug b

So I know I could probably just look up how to use the soap water, or ask at the gardening store how to use the insecticidal soap. I'm just a bit confused about it as I have never had problems with pests in the past. So at this point there are probably hundreds of white flys. When I gently shake the plants or move them around to water they all fly up and move around...when it comes down to soaping the plant am I putting the soap basically everywhere? The flys are mostly staying away from the buds, so should I aim to just soap the leaves? And do I have to get it directly on the bugs in order to kill them? If not wouldn't they just fly away and stay clear of it? Im willing to spend the time to individually get each and every plant on every leaf if it comes down to it...just want to be a little more clear on how to go about it. I haven't spent the time researching how to use the insecticidal soap so I can do that, but any advice you got on the process would help. Thanks for the input.

Here's the simplest and fastest thing you can do... go to your local Home Depot or whatever, and buy a box of foggers for like ten dollars. Set one off and it will kill the flies. If you mess with water and soap, you could cause bud mold and it would be hard to get the soapy residue off later on, especially since the buds will be bigger. Another thing you can do, is just buy sticky traps or make your own. White flies are attracted to the color yellow, you can get some yellow paper and cover it in something sticky (like tanglefoot) and put it above the plants. I would for sure STAY AWAY from the soap and water though.

Ill give the sticky traps a try...the foggers are just bug bombs? I'll see what I can do over the next few days and hopefully the problem improves. As long as I can just manage it for another few weeks I should be ok.

Yep, just bug bombs, just say you need it for fleas. It'll knock them dead, just seal the space, release the fogger when the light and fan are off, and then air the room out for two hours before turning the light and fan back on...

i read that the white fly was spread by the nurseries in the first place if you have one close stop by and ask them what they do for control

Yes it kils them when you spray it directly on them. The other dude has a point about the mold. You should try to spray it on the bugs not the plant.

If they are staying away from the buds, maybe its best to do very little.

I have been bothered with white flies off and on for some time now. The sticky traps really are the best thing to do for now, although I haven't tried the fogger idea and I am very intrigued with this idea because I am having problems with the little bastards as we speak. I am just hesitant about gassing my plants. During veg I usually hit them with the neem oil and water bit right before flowering and then place several sticky traps around them just in case and this usually will keep the plants bug free throughout flowering. Of course I didnt put up the traps this time and the few flies were able to get a foothold in week three of flowering.

for wayne85, I think you need to look at some of the general growing forums first. Veg for 12 weeks and flower for 4, that's way off. Usually it looks more like the other way around. Veg for 4-6 weeks, maybe longer if you feel like it, and flower for 8-9 weeks. And with one plant under a 600w light, (mh?, hps?) you can expect to get around 2 ounces if done right, maybe more maybe less depending on a lot of factors...strain genetics, setup, etc...

This thread is about white flies. I think you could grow a nice batch of white flies with that setup. The flies are good with only 4 weeks buddinf.

I have white flies. First I used Dont Bug Me from Fox Farm, it seemed to work for quite a while but now I have a few that are trying to make a come back. So now I have "Organicide" its made from fish oils, it smells terrible and makes the plants shiny. Dunno if it works yet but I would like to wash the shit off my plants cuz it smells too much like a bag of dead fish.:?:-|

so whoever had the post about using the vacuum to suck them up, gotta say that was a good idea. I think I read it in a different thread, but I took the shop vac and just started gently shaking the plants...white flys were flying everywhere and I must have sucked a thousand of them into the shop vac. After that I hung up the sticky traps and it looks like for now the problem is back under control. Ill just have to keep a close eye on it...thanks for the ideas.

that is better than soap, but dump or poison your vacuum bag.
