white hairs forming on mother plants. do i have an auto?

Hello all.

Ive been quite busy so i decided to postpone the grow and just let the ones i had grow nice and big so i would have some nice mothers to do clippings off of when i got more time. They have been under 24 for almost 2.5 months or maybe longer, not exactly sure of how long. I came back from out of town today and noticed that 3 had really long white hairs growing from the tops. Reminded me of it trying to flower, however it didnt make sense because it was under 24 hr light and 2.5+ months is a bit long for an auto flower. do all plants have a predetermined flower cycle?? Do i have a cross between a regular plant and an auto?

Im new to growing so im not quite sure what to expect. If you could let me know whats going on that be great. Pic is from a friends phone so its not the best quality.

Corrections, its been about 3 months from seed under 24. I just havnt had a chance to do anything with them yet. T_T Was hoping for some mighty healthy clones tho.

This happen to me and I assumed the female to be an auto. It just wanted to flower and whether it was truly an auto or not, it would've made a terrible mom.

the plant is just sexually mature.. its showing pistils. it wont flower though, to the best of my knowledge.

Good to know. Thanks. Also its weird that the main stem or where the top cola will be does not have any hairs. The pic is of a branch about 4 nodes down. But it is consistant. 4, 5, and 6 nodes down from top all have hairs. I know i am over analyzing it, but its intriguing to me to know some of the science behind it.

This is correct. At about at 2 - 2.5 months , mother plants will show white pistils. This is just a sign of sexual maturity. She's telling you that you could induce her to flower and she would produce bud. You can keep her in veg mode for as long as you want but they normally have a life span of about 10 months to a year. I have heard some people keeping mother plants for longer than a year. SO in theory you could keep a plant in veg mode forever? Hope this helped.

Hi ino it's a while later but I thought I would answer this incase anyone else pops up with the same problem when this happened to me I switched the light cycle with my autos to 12/12 and it triggered them to flower U must remember autos are cross plants so some may have more of normal female genetics if this ever happens and you're autos dont flower quick enough switch the light cycle to 12/12 and it will start the flowering process off hope this helps
