paper towel method is no good, use jiffy cloth, its sterilized. Personally I would use jiffy pellets, hold moisture much better than soil, no mess but more importantly no tap root damage during transplant. Ive never had a seed not germ in jiffy pellets, although I only use good beans.

I gave up on germinating in a separate growth medium a while ago. All I do now is put seeds straight in rockwool (I grow hydroponically now) and have had ~100% success ever since. I did this when I grew in soil as well and experienced the same result. Germinating in a separate growth medium is only to determine whether you have bum seeds or not. I don't bother when the seeds come from a reputable source.
Jack took about 5-7 days to sprout, for me either way. Just have patience, my friend. I've had seeds take as long as a week and a half to sprout.
Good luck!

i'd say try putting them back on paper towel moist put a plate upside down on top and put on heat mat on high on timer 15 min on 15 min off, i can get mine to crack like that sometimes, also give them a little scratch with a knife - be careful that u dont split it or puncher it, its gonna be soft from being wet and in medium. it just needs a light scrape (scaraying) this helps to. or could be white label alot of peope have been having problems with white label double gum me included my seeds had germinated in the packet, well thats what it looked like.

There are some threads in "Seed and Strain" forum that talk about this exact problem. Go and seek young padiwan :hump:

Word around town is that white label herror are all duds. Where I live anyways. The majority of the over priced strains were coming out duds, even the top manufacturers are producing crap these days. The only ones available to me were fems, and I would never buy fems.

Seems I keep hearing bad things about white label seeds. Sucks man I'm sorry. However it seems all breaders have their fare share of crap seeds. As everyone else has said try another method. On a side note the fact that they've soaked in water is a for 24 hours is a good thing as they should have rehydrated a bit. I'd try the paper towel method or something else now. Some seeds can take up wards of a week to split. Usually its should only take a day to three though.

Another problem you could be having is that your seed's outer area could be very thick and hard. Some people recommend before they germinate any seeds getting the finest sand paper you can fined and cut a small square of it. Then place that square in a match box (tape the square down first). Place the seeds in that match box with the sand paper in it and then shack it around a bit. That should cause micro cuts on the outer seed layer and help with germinating. That's much better than scoring the seeds with a knife like some will tell you to do (I'm not saying scoring with a knife won't work, it's just risky as all hell).

The matchbox thing works and is much less risky. I had some seeds that were about 2 yrs. old. I sprayed them down w/ Kelp extract, let them dry. The next day did the matchbox thing and placed them in a black coffee cup w/ lid for 24 hrs. They still hadn't popped so I did the paper towel method, and put the paper towel w/ seeds in a ziploc bag, sealed it up, and put it in my dresser drawer. Left it alone in the dark for 48 hrs. then checked them and one popped and had a 1/2" tail and two more were just cracking. The fourth was still closed. I then planted them in FFOF and three have taken off and are doing great. The fourth was a dud. But 2 yrs. old and did fine. Also I use only distilled H2O on my seeds and young plants. Good luck.:joint::peace:

i score ALL mine using a knife tip. use a really sharp one and scrape it over the seed, ( unless u have big clumsy hands u wont have a problem ) before putting in a jar of sterile, Ph'd water for 12 hrs then in paper towel on plate for 12hrs. normally they have cracked open and have a dicks growing from them, if they dont crack with in the 1st 4 days this way i chuck them. most should (if viable) germinate within 48 hrs max. even seeds 3 - 5 years old provided they ere stored correctly.

That's weird...9/10 popped for me. I soaked them in tap water for 24 hours, then put them between paper towels. They germinated within 48 hours.
