White/light green spots on leaves

This one is my buddys plant. He has whitish/ dark green spots on the bottom of his plant at the leaves. Sometimes the spots are shiny. Will this damage his plants and how could he get rid of this?

Check for thrips and other pests on the underside of leaves.
