WHITE WHITE TIPS------what does it mean? 2nd week veg hydro

The title says it all.

My Super Lemon Haze is in her 2nd week of Veg. I upped the nutes at the turn of her 2nd week to 3/4 strength at 1000ppm humboldt nutrients.

The next day the ppm spiked to 1300 all on its own. I added water and brought it down to 950ppm. I added water a few more days and the ppm is down to 600 now.\

Im planning a water change out on friday, which is the weekly norm. Im wondering if I should keep her in a low dose of nutes or plain water?

The white tips are the very tip tip and it is WHITE, not yellow, or tinted anything , ITS WHITE.

Thanks a lot for the help!!!!:joint:

I'll take some pics tonight.

Im using a 1000W MH air cooled tube with exhaust fan removing heat and maintaining 73-78 during the day and 66-68 during the night.

I havent found anything on here or online that suggests "killer white tips" is cause by nute burn, but it happened the day after and have since grown two new nodes/tops whatever they are called. Its been 4 days since Ive been running super low nutes, but the new growth is still showing signs of white tips.

I hope it does not get worse. Ive had a hell of a time getting the 2 plants up and going out of the 20 seeds that I planted. I killed 18/20 during the germination to seedling transition.
Anyway, thanks for your alls help. I'll get pics tonight.

How far away is the bulb from the tops? White growing shoots often means drying out. Feel the tip and see if the white parts are crunchy.

I'll check for crunchiness tonight when I take pics.

The 1000W MH is 36 inches away from the plants, so I highly doubt its heat. The humidity averages about 40% which is not ideal I know but not too awful bad.

I have heard a few people who have bought humboldt nutes off ebay and other online stores and they havent been very good.

Do you leave your water to stand before using it? I have had similar issues to this and i found that if I let the water stand for 24 hours minimum then add nutes and adjust the ph, let it stand another 24 hours and then check PH & EC again (most of the time the ph and ppm have risen in my case it must be due to the water being hard) adjust then use and after that i havent experienced any extreme changes

Try that if you dont already have a similar method :) I hope one of the solutions can help save more lives

As I said earlier. The tips of 2 or 3 nodes worth of shutes is white. Looks almost yellowish-white now.
2nd week of veg.
Humboldt nutrients-grow, micro, bloom, prozyme, sea-cal, white widow, flavorful. Following 3/4 strength was humboldt feeding chart calls for.
1000W MH about 32" away from the plant canopy.
temps 72-77 day and 66-68 at night. Humidity is about 35-40% during the day, and 75% for the 5 hours of darkness
Plant has and is making great progress since I put it in Veg and started with nutes. The white/yellowish tips do not seem to bother it at all growing wise, Im just cautious right?
Any other questions of comments are appreciated. Thanks fellas.

Man I finished off a gram of Lemon Kush today. A friend gave it to me yesterday and boy was it yummy. I cant wait until that magic day when I can finally harvest something smokeable!!!!!

Also, I did buy my nutes off ebay. All Humboldt nutes. Lol. great.
I have been using straight distilled water and phd.
I pre adjust the ph and check and adjust it every day. It always fluctuates for me in all my tanks because Im running each plant in a plastic coffee container which is a small volume of water and is not that stable.

ANYONE OUT THERE!!! REP

I put the Super lemon haze in a larger 2 gallon jug with massive air flow bubble action, 2 day old tap water thats 300ppm and 150ppm of nutes and 1 drop of superthrive.
I think the reason for the dis-coloration is because the roots of this little girl are matted up on the bottom of this little red coffee container. There is always sediment down there, brownish in color,
and the roots are growing in the sediment. THAT CANT BE GOOD ONE DAMN BIT.

Light will get into those, duck tape will work wonders if your looking for a cheap fast fix. Those roots shouldnt be sitting on any sediment.

Well,
after the transplant into a new larger home, where the roots are not sitting on sediment and is all taped up to prevent light, I think I might be ok.

I changed to tap water also to get trace elements. I let the water age for a day or two first. Mixed it up real light nutes at 450 ppm. My tap water is 300 ppm.

I also trimmed about 6 larger fan leaves off because the plant is so short and stocky, the few large fan leaves are all blocking ALL the light from the new shoot right under neath it.

Those shoots that are being deprived of light were looking a little sickly, not too bad. just look like that have had a fan leaf sitting on top of them for their life and were getting no light.

well what that looks like to me is someone didnt flush hydroton very well to begin with and you needed to lightproof the container but the lightproofing is not as big a deal as everyone makes it out to be it is VERY important but its not going to kill ur plant just slow its growth a bit as not all the roots are getting light just whats on the edge of the container. That looks like nut burn to me classic nut burn. Your inside of your fresh growth is lime green this is normal the middle is dark green and then the tips are yellow again there is no "white growth" its light yellow you burnt em flush em and use low nuts like you been doing and you already changed containers so you should be ok.

Thanks Kron, REP to you

Im thinking the same thing you are except I did wash and soak the hydroton.
Nutes lowered now, I didnt flush because I didnt want to lose a week, but I did lower nutes from 1300 to under 500. Thats damn near a flush right?
And the tips were WHITE WHITE WHITE..... they turned yellow. Maybe thats a sign that the plant is reverting back to where it needs to be. Thanks again guys.

look at it this way man your not losing a week, you bringing your nut levels back down to a safe level so your plant can reabsorb them remember your plant absorbed as much as possible as it could of that shit before it locked out on you. Hence the flush you need it to absorb some water and "flush" some of the nutrients out of the plant so its got room to take in more again at a slower better healthy rate. Use straight tap water if thats all you got but RO is preferred but not imperitive use no nutrients until it uses up half of your res with straight water looks like you got a small one thats why.

Why do you think RO is preferred over tap or distilled?

I was using distilled , but I kept having to adjust my ph and aparently, distilled does not have a ph buffer in in.

I though tap water would be good because it has trace elements in it. sulfer, mg, mn, iron etc.
