White Widow Harvest Question

Hi-
My white widow have been flowering for a good 10 weeks about now, my question is this, I've heard a lot of people say harvest at 50/50 amber, and others at 75% amber. I'm inclined to think the 75% is better, but I've never grown WW until now. Also, one of my plants has no amber whatsoever on it, and it has some massive buds, I've heard some white widow does not change amber at all, maybe this plant is one of those few? If you guys want some pix let me know and I can get them up and running in a few.

Thanks for any/all input guys!

It all comes down to personal preference in high/stone so only what you like matters and not what anyone else says/likes.

Trichomes are small appendages that look like hairs. They are produced by marijuana, and other plants. Female marijuana plants produce certain trichomes that are a rich source of THC. These trichomes can be found in their largest concentration on the buds. They start out clear, turn a milky color, then turn amber (light brown).

The trichomes in picture 1 are clear. After the plant has flowered for a few weeks, the trichomes start to turn a milky color (picture 2). After a few more weeks, they will be totally milky in color. In the later stages of flowering, trichomes will turn to a light brown color (picture 3). The amount of time required to get to this point depends on the marijuana strain and the growing conditions.

In picture 2 you can see the stems have started to turn from a clear color to a milky translucent color. For maximum THC content and a more cerebral and energetic high, harvest your plants when a majority of the trichomes on the plants in your garden are a fully milky translucent color.

You can wait until most of the trichomes have started to turn amber, but the resulting marijuana will produce more of a sleepy body stone than it would if plants were harvested earlier. The trichome in picture 3 is about 90% amber, with just a trace of the milky translucent color it previously possessed.

After the trichome is fully amber in color, the THC starts to degrade. This makes it very important to harvest marijuana at the time before a majority of the trichomes have attained a total amber color. If not, the marijuana will not be as potent as it could have been.

i just harvested my ww this weekend after an extensive stay in flowering. i cant recall how long it took, but i used CFLs and using my microscope i found very little amber trichomes. i even invited a veteran grower over for peek and he told me it was about time to chop. said ww takes a long time to mature.

Ya its odd, because some of my plants are amber everywhere, while one or two have no amber at all, but the trichomes are pretty cloudy. I'll try and get some microscope pix up, along with some closer normal pix. I wonder if its the fluorescent lighting that does that, because I'm running T5's. I'll get the pix, be back in a few mins!

I finished a WW about 2 months ago.I harvested half of the buds when they were cloudy and let the rest go to amber. It did take alot longer than i thought it would to turn amber.
I wish i would have harvested all of the buds when they were cloudy,i liked the buzz alot better. The head high from the cloudy buds was fantastic,it realy messed with my eyes. The amber buds had no couch lock or head high.I was realy disappointed.OPH

Those things need more light, time, and god knows what else. Thing looks like its under cfls?
Its only hairs and not solid buds. Some strains need up to 14 weeks, give it more time.

They have 150k lumens on them, they're T5's not CFLs, but ya my oldest bro has a 1k HPS and he happens to owe me a few hundred $$ so i'll see if I can get that from him. I'm going to harvest off the amber ones, and give the cloudy ones another week to see if they change at all. You can see in the picture that I have to tie up a lot of the branches because the buds are heavy as f*kk. I polenated one branch to get some emergency seeds just in case and i'd say a good 70% of the seeds are matured, I figured it'd be a good idea to have a natural indicator. I'll post some pics when I harvest those guys, and some pix of the ones I don't in a few days to show some progress.
