Who all thinks marijuana kills brain cells? I dont.

I believe smoking marijuana is perfectly safe. I started smoking pot in 1968 and other than blurred vision and uncontrollable repetitive head movement and ... and ... uhhhhh ... and .... well I can't remember right now, but other than those things and the one thing I can't remember right now I am perfectly fine.

well everything kills some brain cells. Sitting in a car behind a city bus will probably kills as many as a joint. Getting hammer drunk on a Friday night would kill about 100x as many as a joint.
I'd say your safe :)

edit: memory loss aside :)

What I wrote was actually a joke. After 42 years of toking I know of no negative effects of any sort as of yet.

well i heard there was a test taken years ago that proved it did but i wasnt there and i dont know how the test was performed. other than that, holding your breath can kill brain cells so id say ppl who hold in every hit as long as they can might be losing a few. but probably no more than your typical avid swimmer.

I've smoked for 38 years and I can say that I am a very intelligent person. I'm college edumacated and I was a professional software developer for many years. (that was a joke about the spelling...) I get much more creative after I smoke. I write better software when I'm buzzed unlike on alcohol which does nothing good. For the most part I think it does affect short term memory if you let it. It relaxes you and things get "soft" not "dead". If you exercise your mind, your mind will stay sharp. I suck at remembering phone numbers but I can remember large product numbers at work.

The only two ill effects I've ever noticed about weed in my 15 years have been; 1- Massive dry mouth which can cause tooth decay, and 2- thought derailment/short term memory loss. (Only happens when I'm stoned though, not sober.)

Hey, first time poster here.

I think it makes me a much better programmer too. I like to get a toke in if I am going to be writing code. But if I am in a customer meeting? Not so much.

Yeah, I agree. Pot itself hasn't impacted my intelligence, but I do think that if I don't feed my mind, well, it doesn't stay tuned I don't think. So, I don't think Pot has anything to do with it.

Maybe some people veg out on pot and don't stay sharp? But that isn't a pharmacological effect. That would be more of a I'm-so-high-I-can't-get-off-the-couch effect. lol

I personally want to know things. Information is power.
