Who else agrees that big box store nutrients are just fine

Well we're comparing apples to oranges eh? Were talking small grows eh? I grow in my backyard and also a tent. I've tried lots of products and mg or Jack's works just peachy. Like someone said earlier put the extra money into your lights and grow room. Stop shopping stoned then the pretty package won't distract as much.

Here is a great read that will put you off inorganic fertilizers forever. They're allowed to recycle industrial waste that has nitrogen, potassium and phosphate, and sell it as fertilizers. Ironite, a big box fert, is a great example. Kindle has "Fateful Harvest" for 99 cents. A real eye opener about the other things that come along with recycled NPK...lead, cadmium, mercury... http://www.amazon.com/Fateful-Harvest-Global-Industry-Secret/dp/0060193697/ref=sr_1_1_title_2_har?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1400038985&sr=1-1&keywords=fateful+harvest

I,, too, am Maxsea all the way. Why would anybody use anything else? Cost effective, and pretty close to organic. Thanks for the tip about double doses, Double JJ. I thought I had a bit of nitrogen curl when I used a little more than the standard dose. You'd like this book...will take you back to a different place from long ago. Well, a bit south.

If your saying mg is just as good as maxsea or ff I'm sorry I can't take you seriously bro !!!!
your reading too much into this, shoulda know it'd happen, its RIU. Cant mention MG without a flurry of emotions coming about in this crowd. My point of this thread is, when the guy brand new to the growing world, is wondering what nutes he should use (brand wise) he's missing the big picture. Newbs a lot of the time seem to have the concept that cannabis needs all these special nutrients, and that, your basic vegetable ferts wont cut it. And I want to wash that idea away. So heres what I have left to say, MG, espoma osmocote, all will serve their purpose to feed your plant,(not that they don't have a downside) and if that's what you can budget for(I know I didn't want to invest too much when I first started) it'll do . MAXSEA, FF all other ferts alike will serve there purpose as well, but at a higher cost, I like the basic veg flower nutrient lines like maxsea, but that's all as u need, veg and flower, and no other nonsense.

I use some water soluble, or foliar if available. Can't complain about them tho, every fuck up with the nutes is my fault always.

What you want to watch for when choosing nutrients is the percent of Ammonical Nitrogen . This is what makes weed taste bad. doesn't matter on house plants or vegetables.

I may be FOS.. But I don't eat processed foods, I don't eat hormone injected meats and I've given up soda pop too. I would equate smoking or ingesting chemical fertilized weed to eating at McDonalds. But that's just me.
Organic works for me and I've not met anyone who didn't love the taste of my bud.
It's a free country. You can grow your weed in whatever you want!

I used to eat
McDonalds till I saw video of them draggin the beef with a tractor and chain to slaughter because the steer couldn't walk. I've also been a teacher for 25+ years and I can see first hand how our kids are physically maturing years earlier than 20 years ago, again I may be full of shit ( and if I grow organically that's partly true :). But I attribute that to the use of growth hormones in our food.
I really don't care what people use to grow. I just know what works for me.

.
My wife drove by a cattle car accident and that stopped her from eating beef. LOL, she eats all the other animals though.

Organic is the best for outdoor growing imo. Using basic 'big box' nutrients in hydro set ups wouldn't get the highest achievable results but'd still work alright.

So envious of your backyard or non guerilla grows, my dream one day.
