It definitely got the old heart pumping ....I guess I'm a glutin for punishment causw I have been playing with my steEl traps I haven't set yet and as soon as the rain slows down I'm headed to the patch with a bag of marshmallows and my traps...next I'm gonna be telling a story about how I forgot where I set a trap and I nkw have a broken foot or 3 toes left lol

  • ......well...I had one exciting morning ...first I too my mag to my actual garden to Check for deer and didn't see any ...I usually take it with me when making my morning rounds at the plants but I remembered I didn't bait my trap cause I was too busy making cages yesterday ...I went down at about 6 to check for coon damage and started peeking at my trees and noticed the trap door was shut on my live trap....huh....well its all covered up with sticks and weeds ...about that time I noticed my hound was going crazy..SUCCESS....he ran by the cage 10 times till u walked up and that coon started growling at me and he went nuts...well he stated raising 9 kinda hell if course and I got parinoid that someone was gonna hear him and walk up on us...which I have about a 93% chance of that not happening....but I was scared ...so I thought ..pick up th cage ...walk with it till I'm back on my property ...then o get the gun...right?...well...this is a homemade cage...and a big heavy one...and the guy who made it never made the handle very long...so when I grabbed it I felt that coon paw wrap around my middle finger ..yeah, so needless to say I dropped the cage...I had some boltING gloves from the coal mines hid close by so I put them on and stared packing him....now I have the problem of my dog attacking this 60 lb cage with a 20 25 lb coon in it while crawling through the woods....guess what happened ..he jumped up on the cage...I dropped it again ..the trap door came open and I now have a 25 lb coon on my right foot.......=\.....my dog which is a coon hound but has never hunted tore that coons ass apart...he soon realized it wasn't as easy as he thought it would be but he won that's for sure...he even treed him and was trying t climb the tree ..lol goofy fucker...I ran a mile or so to my house ..got my gun...rn back and the rest is history...my pup doesn't have a scratch on him and I have one less coon to worry bout....on to the next one...but I just had to tell you guys the whole story...coons on the feet at 6am will wake your ass up that's for sure
Hey man that's funny. What breed is your dog? I grew up in OK and half of my buddies had hounds, so I had all of the coon hunting I wanted. Seen some crazy shit happen in my teenage years. Watched a coon drown one of my buddies dogs before he could swim out to try and save him. One of the saddest things I've ever seen big 6' 4" bad ass fuker holding his dog and sobbing uncontrollably..we were all in tears. He paid $1500 for that dog, that was a lot of money in 1970.
Been to a couple gatherings where they had a Coon in a Keg contest, throw a big ass coon and a hound in a big wooden container...see who comes out. No contest.20150119_195308.jpg
Looking back it all seems so brutal...now I feed them when we camp at the state parks.

Black and tan and a walker mix...he is really tall and built heavy. ..he is beautiful...we didn't pay anything for he...he was going to get dropped off in the woods when he was a pup if my sister didn't take him from the ppl who had him...fucking ass holes....he is very loyal to me and doesn't like very many ppl....everyone is scared of him and when he sees they are scared he usually nails them...if you just don't pay attention to him and pet him he will love you .....and I know what you meen about paying big mone for hunting dogs...A LOT of ppl around here have 4 ta 6 grand in a dog that they take out and let get tore all to hell or killed ...Coon or bears...my neighbor raises dogs ..walker and blue ticks...he has 4 or 5 grand night champions or something like that atm...he use to have about 25 dogs of his own and hunted them all along with bread them...but he only has a few now...very highly regarded dogs ..everyone where I'm from that hunts dogs knows my neighbor...my old stray mix breed has put a hurting on a few of his dogs when they come up on our property though....he doesn't seem to like that...

He sounds like a beauty and a great companion. I know of a couple coon hunters here in Oregon not at all like it was towards the southern states. Used to be a lot of hound hunters around here for cat and bear until the stupid Portland tri-county voters banned hunting with dogs in 1998 I believe it was. Now they have concerns when someone sites a cougar near a school yard...imagine that. Fukin retards, eastern Oregon has huge problems with cats.

I was just about to say lets see everyone's updates... @757growin let's see that big tree of yours...i think it's the biggest iv seen this year...everyone on this thread for that matter...biggest plant with some sorta measurements or something to compare it to...I'll have mine up as soon as I get into good wifi service....I'm kicking my ass for only getting a 100 gal pot...all my 45 gal pots have stalled out in the past month or so and my 100 gal is slowing down a lot...biggest pots iv ever had and .....I want bigger!

Bigger is always better. Lols. Some ppl here have said that a 1000 gal can't be filled.. it's getting close and I'm pretty sure it will by oct. I'll get an update up this week.

Good description...I raised 3 different ones 3 different years growing up as a child. A lot of fun to have around.

How about 15 foot around *Full growth* and 6 foot tall?
The real pineapple, nothing like it.

Tomorrow they will be 15 foot around and 5 foot tall. Pulling them down

7 foot tall concrete wire mesh at the top of a 300 gallon smart pot with empire builder with soil labs amended soil.

Already busting out of the 15 foot around cage.

5X a week 1100 to 1300 PPM feed @ 6.5 PH. Tea and a flush.
