Who uses meth........

Well the girl I mentioned put a needle in her arm, was a high school class mate not really a friend. Good Christian girl ironically. People do die sometimes from from that first hit. Although usually drug users die from chronic usage and body damage/neglect.

Amphetamine in its variety of forms is addictive. Saying anything to the contrary is nonsense. And I'd hardly say ganja propaganda shares many truths with reality where as other drugs that isn't always the case. Doesn't mean that they can't be enjoyed or safely used, but meth is nothing like cannabis in the slightest.

Also please work on your sentence structure and grammar. Your one long run run on paragraph of grammatical errors and simple spelling mistakes hardly conveys intelligence in your posts.

So you are claiming that pot myth is wrong but other drug myths are correct.... because? Ok start again with addictiveness and your outright claim that my saying meth is not classically addictive is nonsense? Yet there are no withdrawal symptoms to speak of. You will have to alter the definition of addiction. No, meth is not "like" cannabis but that is not the point.

Do I really need to post peer reviewed articles demonstrating the addictive nature of amphetamines? It may not be the same type of addiction as heroin or alcohol can cause, but it's well documented to be addictive. Even in my post that you quote I mentioned it's addictive, so why am I starting again ?

With regards to the "myths" comment, it holds true, even though it's presented in an incomplete statement. Meth causes lack of proper salivation, and often times works in connection with poor dental hygiene.

Also multi quote doesn't work on my phone as I wasn't commenting towards you in part of my post, that was unclear.

Eta what is your point? Not asking sarcastically, just wondering so I avoid making assumptions.

We risk getting into the quagmire of definition of addiction. I said classical definition which includes physiological withdrawal symptoms. I believe I have seen work concluding that pot is addictive as well. But I don't think it is productive to continue on along that line. I think my point was that myths are spread about all substances, some of those myths may be based upon fact but it seems to me that drug users themselves spread as many myths as non-drug users. MDMA Holes in the brain, Flashbacks caused by LSD lodged permanently in the spine, drugs are poisons, PCP makes you into a superman/zombie. What I was saying is that we tend to deny the myths of the substances we are familiar with or drawn to but accept those with which we are less familiar.

Well said. Never done meth, never will when I can enjoy pharmaceutical grade amphetamines.

As drug users, we all know there are risks to indulging. Some substance possess more risks than others. It's best to be educated, not lied to as many of us have been over the years.

Some good points being made on both sides here. Ultimately I agree that people should be able to do what they please with their own body, but I do not agree that all drugs are created equally. I have tried meth, and a lot of other drugs over the years, and I find the comparisons that are being drawn to weed a bit ridiculous. For starters, weed is non-toxic. Ever see anyone OD on it? Secondly, the vast majority of marijuana users are pretty chill, and aren't out robbing people to get a fix. There are exceptions to this I'm sure, but the average marijuana user doesn't *crave* the substance and won't be climbing walls to get a fix.

I guess I'm a bit of a pot snob. I feel that it's in a class all by it self. Alcohol, cigarettes, meth, heroin, etc are all more addicitive and destructive than weed. Comparing any of these drugs with weed is like comparing orange juice to battery acid imo.

That's the truth. I'm addicted to cigarettes /nicotine. It's a terrible drug, need to quit. It's expensive, and really does ruin your body. I should know better as I worked in a hospital and witnessed the variety of maladies smoking can cause.

Never have I "craved" cannabis like I have a cigarette. It feels kinda stupid to desire such a stupid thing. Still wouldn't ban them.

I'm dependent on opioids. No fun there. Never rally craved them like I do with cigarettes but when I don't taper down and simply stop taking them, my body eventually recoils in horror.
