whorled/deformed leaves, please help?

Been having some issues that seem to be getting worse. Got 2 x P. Box (subcool's) that were in some recycled super soil from clone for about 45 days. Started to see what I thought to be a Mg defficiency due to the fact that I use RO water.

Before putting anything into the soil, I decided to do a complete flush (6 gal each for 3 gal pots) with 7.0PH water. Checked the runoff of the last half gallon of each, and was about 5.8... obviously PH was locking something out.

Tried over 2 weeks to bring it up with a bit of hydrated lime but it wasn't getting better, so I decided to scrap the soil that was giving me problems before I completely lost the plants. Cut 50% of the soil off the rootball and re-planted into a mix of 75% Roots Organic soil/ 25% Pro mix w/ myco.

One plant has bounced back and seems to be ok, but the other is putting out some very deformed/whorled leaves. Slightly noticeable on new growth, but seems more pronounced on the fully formed fan leaves.

Plants are curently under 250w MH in a 3x3 room and still being watered with RO water. They are in 3 gal square smartpots and watered every third day or so when they feel light to lift. Plant in question is about 60 days old and ready to be flipped, but I would like to resolve this issue before flowering.

recycled was all i needed to see, dont be cheap and reuse soil, start fresh always.

point taken... so is this fixable? Fresh soil the only advice here, or is this a specific deficiency?

This is definitely a soil problem, most likely derived from high salt content. Like JoC said, don't recycle soil. Cheap grow=cheap bud.

I hear where these guys are coming from. But for Many Thousands of years, soil has been reused. I am not sure of how this is done correctly. I do not grow in soil because of these and a few other issues that take almost a chemisty degree. So I use COCO Coire. I know for a fact this stuff can be used over and over and over for at least 5 times with no ill effect if you just soak it in a double dose of Hydrozyme or some other Zyme product. But when I buy my coco, it has no nutrients, no micro-orginisims or anything. So to reset it you just wipe out everything. Even if you get Nat eggs in the coco. No Big Deal. Just flush with boiling hot water, then soak in hydrozyme for 7 days. Walla. Brand new medium. My Mother used to heat up soil to 150 degrees to kill all the bad crap and then would add what she felt it needed. I have no idea what she did, and can not ask her anymore.
With this said. I feel that a new grower or someone with medium ability should use new soil. But a grower with advanced abilities could easily use the same soil more then once.

One last thing!!! Coco coire is almost impossible to over water. You can water it every 2-3 days, or 3-5 times a day. And your plants will do great. This stuff is so easy to grow in, that I had hired a man from Ohio named Thompson, to train me a Monkey to raise my crops for me. But the crazy SOB let all the animal loose then killed himself. I think the Monkey grew to strong of weed for the guy.

Well, It's been close to a month now and the problem has gone away and they're looking beautiful. This run was the first time I had tried to recycle soil, and I must say I'm not a fan. I will start fresh from now on.
