Why are outdoor buds leafier?

They get more intense light outdoors so it would make sense to think they would need less leaves because of increased efficiency. But it's not the case...anyone know why?

Solar collection is only one of the many functions of a fan leaf.
Learning how a leaf functions will improve your yields.

I don't have any yield issues. My buds are dense and full. There are just more single-blade leafs within the bud and all the leaves are thicker overall than indoor.

lol Why do plants grow so much bigger out side then indoor ?? could it be from full spectrum of the sun and the what 120 - 130 watts per m2 i would think so a out door plant will out grow a indoor even in over cast weather.
So with that said nothing wrong with leaf only means more sugar leafs and more growth here 5 1/2 week old plant from seed easily 2 - 3 times the size as one that would of been grown indoor wait till you see this bad girl Purple train wreck in 7 months time :) IMG3697.jpg

powerful in what way?
actually you can get quite a bit more lux through indoor than the sun..
different spectrums yes

moonlight isnt going to have an effect
When you look at how a plant works...rarely ever done.
Youll see that basically light affects hormones etc, for example (co) protein that initiates flowering is only stable in light.
Another....
light inhibits the activity of PINOID kinase, which then promotes the activity ofPIN3. This activation leads to asymmetric distribution of auxins, which then lead to asymmetric elongation of cells in the stem..basically how plants follow the sun

Now then
You dont have to have an unnecessary fear of light. how much light does it take to have an effect on the plant? You need about 2000 lumens to maintain photosynthesis, about 40 lumens will stop flowering (at the low end)... i routinely turn ceiling lights on at "night" to tend to my plants with no detrimental affects. The little amount of light on an extension cord is nothing either.
Now flowering hormones build up again every "night" you caneven leave a flowering plant in full 24/0 for 2 days with no effect and go back to flower the next night . Bad genetics herm from stress. They will do fine next to a street light..etc use yourimagination
My grows arecertainly not completely dark

moonlight is not strong enough to effect anything..
if your thinking gravity for some reason, no...

rh intensity and spectrum are factors here. the more in tense the light the thicker the leaves and skinnier until they start to bleach. less intense light creates fewer fingered fan leaves that are each a bit wider. spacing is genetc and related to intensity, uv doesnt have an effect here

i grew out for many times longer than in, i personally have not seen this difference so could hardly say its true in all circumstances

Everyone has issues with yield, rarely will a grower reach maximum.

The roots zone is massive in comparison to indoor. As above, so below.

I know this is a dumb answer but its because outdoors is AWESOME!! You have better light, lots of fresh air, humidity....and in short THEY WERE MEANT TO BE OUTSIDE. plus all thay oxygenated rain...of course they are going to thrive!

Usually a person growing out door only has problems when there growing in 3 gallon pots lol when your dealing with 300 gallon and up with soil huge difference there is no comparison in reality .. people that decide i am going organic growing indoor are only doing half of real organic growing, Which ever way you look at it ....
Ask your self where are the macro organisms sure people throw in worms but again ,, its only a small portion of a true soil food web you know the mites, beatles , centipedes what most growers , refuse to have indoor ?? as well as other insects involved. that is the soil Food web no such thing as cutting corners ..
indoor we mimic mother nature, Out door we are mother nature indoor plants only here the sound of Fans out door the plants here birds thunder, animals these frequencies obviously do wonders .. and make a difference
As for Yields again and quality its proven fact that a bigger plants will produce more yield and better quality then one half its age some growers that have issues with out door most of the time its the growers that go to there plants once or every 2 weeks and plants are hurting from lack of water stressed or 90 percent of the time do no have adequate soil nutrient ratio un healthy plants and insect issues
With artificial lighting we can not get wattage in the same area as the sun light bleaching will occur 100 percent of the time why is that when out door the sun hammers all living things and they grow
Out door plants grow 6 - 8 " a day in all areas indoor what ??? don't kid your self this is the goal of many light companies coming up with a full spectrum iight that is identical to the sun and there not even close in comparison
out door with minor training meaning crop 2 - 3 times you have a massive bush with massive lateral branching we do not really see massive lateral branching in comparison indoor with out massive LST gallery_11738_4880_104502.jpg
