The funny thing here is that even the first HT cannabis cup you refer to was "rigged"!

To make this quick, Hager recounted how one of the three judges liked indicas, and wanted to vote "0" on Skunk #1 so it wouldn't win. Then Hager and another judge basically ganged up on the guy, and intervened so that Skunk #1 would win.

Whether or not this was "fair" is debatable, but I think you can see why a lot of breeders just don't want to play ball in this sort of game.

i had 2 chernobyl beans that were pretty mediocre but you could taste the winner in them. then the third one finished and it was awesome. 6oz np off a normal in a 5 gallan bucket. in fact it looked like it wouldnt yield anything cause of stretch BUT it was so resinous it was silly almost never really dried. always stayed sticky to the touch and kinda chewy in a grinder. hints of keylime and cat piss before a very Bright green Semi citric exhale. woulda been a great concentrate strain but i let it go before i ever got that far. i still got a few chernobyl beans kickin around in the tin il pop one of these days. she was a good one.

P.s. if i only could smoke 1 strain i wouldnt make it chernobyl. this one time i had 3 come down in a row and thats kinda weird in my perpetual setup so i had chernobyl for a long long time and i kinda got bored of it. that will happen with most strains soo not really a dis so to say. just it isnt in my apocalypse garden line up is all.
 
people who think a pack of bean is gonna give them a winner (yield , clonability, speedy growth, taste, potency) are fucking high.

it takes work.
more work. & more after that.

i've seen posts where subby openly claims 1 in 5 is "the one". nope. not close. not even.
however, hating the guy and all i still demand to see for myself ! there's more than one super elite from subby floating around.

so i run those beans.
from vortex to nanner city (i mean plushberry) to jack the ripper to chernobyl.

i've put the time into a guy i cant stand simply cause i know his gear reveals special ladies.

add to it i've a cut of spacedawg from 1999-2000 ...that i finally got dialed in & making dank.
that ^ shit sells out in snap your fingers... that fast.

so i agree = genetics speak for themselves.

i told e$ko about spacedawg's mango, papaya, baby poo smell & he just laughs cause its not something in his field of view (so to speak).

even if we chat everyday in private & i run e$ko's gear LOTS , i still play my garden game like a scientist.

you cant be blind to possibilities & potential.
 
This may be the brownies speaking, but all this chat about seeds makes me want to say something about it. Seeds are seeds, just that. Sure there are genetics involved, which are more prone to herm, fungal resistant etc etc. But in the end, even if you have the best bean in the world, with the best genetics, most potent smoke, high yield... it means nothing if the grower is inexperienced.

For example... let's say you have a brand new 458 italia all decked out. Now what? It's an extravagant car, fast, flashy... but if you can't drive very well, might as well have stuck with the civic. Na I meeeen??

But on the real... just google what people say about seeds... For me, I looked at each breeder and weeded out ones such as Loud Seeds, Pyramid Seeds, etc. Look at the price, what's the price for five of those beans? 10 USD for ten beans? Versus 15 USD for one bean of TGA or Reserva Privada what not. After it's all said and done, it comes down to research, common sense, and a bit of luck =)
 
pshh....what if you're a formula one driver and your driving a yugo? beans are just not beans in my book, what do you mean sure there are genetics involved? that's where it all starts my friend.
 
Simply put, your outcome is not determined 100% by the type of bean you get. There are different situations though. Lets say a very experienced grower got some beans from (insert less reputable breeder). Everything was done right, no light leaks, top notch growing conditions. Yes there are beans that are more likely to herm, lets say he got one of those, and even in near perfect conditions, they all hermed. In that case the genetics are to blame. Lets reverse it this time. A very inexperienced grower gets his hand on some crazy beans. His set up has light leaks, not enough circulation, heat stress, etc etc. In the end, those solid genetics ended up herming in the end anyways.

In short, genetics can only determine so much... the rest is up to how much effort you put into getting the most out of it.

Also, not saying that type of seeds you don't matter... you should find a solid breeder with solid genetics, but you can turn random shitty bagseed into nice frosty goodness. Just be sensible!
 
Genetics are the single most important factor in cannabis selection. If the genes aren't there it doesn't matter how great or not the gardener is. The goal is control of environment to manifest the quality in the genes. As to the customer they are bogus. Most breeders are pollen clunkers not breeders ( see subfool) and 99.9% are in it solely for the money. That stated I like Ace. Cannabiogen Positronics and Female Seeds very much and always get potent bud from all their beans. This elite chasing is as much a bunch of bullshit as is cup winners are special.

only problem is Shantibaba don't do cups since he left Greenhouse also I don't believe Chimera ever entered a cup but he is a good breeder.

No, but he still parties at the after Spannabis party and got me into his night at Resin Club. He's working with Howard Marks ( he was there too )

nice, Shanti and Howard seem pretty cool I got to go Spannabis next year as long as my mom will watch my kid I'm gonna be there.

I think she knew about Howards nick name but really Shantibaba's sugar daddy Shanti owns Mr. Nice and Shanti has a whole lot more money then Howard you don't think he made any money selling his share of Greenhouse? and whats not to like about the guy he created White Widow, Super Silver Haze, Nevilles Haze and more the guys won hell of a breeder. So who are some of your favorite breeders kite? and what have they actually accomplished?
