why do we use blankets in the summer

So i was thinking, why do humans like being covered in a blanket. We use blankets even in the summer when its hot. Sometimes we might not because it does get hot, but we try to use it anyway until we decide you cant use one today because its too damn hot.
We like to cuddle with the blanket like we have some bond to it and dont even really realise it. So compared to any other animal in nature, where does wanting a blanket come from? No other animals has something like it.
Is it some relation to security and happiness you remember from being a little baby or kid?

I always need weight on me when i sleep. If its hot, i crank up the A/C and still use two blankets:blsmoke:

true, i love hanging one leg out on the cold wall and one under the cover :)

hehe.... its a nice feeling, and i dont want mosquito bites
