been almost 48 hours since i cut.
and the humidity has been less than i wanted :( was 35% the first day , finally got it in the mid 40s with alot of water
i have a fan was blowing on medium NOT directly on them, like 3 feet below.
But in a small closet door closet
Why does my stuff smell like grass? and it all looks so weird. so many redish hairs that were not there before i cut. just looks alot worse than i expected.
thx on any info for the smell

perfectly normal m8 as the fresh cut grass smell is the clorophyl in the plants escaping from the buds... give it a few days and the grass smell will go away...
once they are properly dried a good cure will be needed to really bring out the best of the smells ime.. at least a good 3 weeks in jars minimum to really get an idea of what the buds are really going to smell like... :D

it is NOT perfectly normal, it is from drying them too fast. the only time i ever got that smell was when i bought a trimpro trimmer, sold it right after that harvest. i found leaving the buds on the branches with the leaves and hanging them to dry gives the best aroma and taste, while having no grassy smell.

This is the best answer. Great advice and as said by Racerboy perfectly normal.

hey guys! well 4/5 of u agree its normal. good to know! but my issue is, i got to be out like in a week and half. this is bout to complete day 2 of harvest. so i wont have alot of time to dry and cure. what should i do? meaning which is gonan be more important for 1)taste and 2 ) potency. in the small amount of time i have? thx guys!

In the future I would try to slow down the drying process a little.
I have had a little grassy smell that cured out in the jars but its rare I have even a little grassy smell.

im unsure how i made it dry so fast. its in the dark closet. only been like 38 hours. a fan is on, but like 3 feet bellow

I dont use a fan any more unless I dry ina tent. In that case it would be an exhaust fan and not set on high, I dial it back with my speed controller.
Not all strains will have as much grassy smell, and the amount (if any) leaves left on will make a difference as well.
If the bud is drying that fast I would prolly turn the fan off entirely and leave the closet door open enough for air flow.

To slow down drying I hang wet towels in the drying area till I get the humidity I want..
Drying is an art, and imo the hardest and most important part of a good grow.

Good luck!

From what you described, with low humidity, and a fan 'in' the closet, even though below, I would have turned off the fan until the RH came up if it was me..........

I find if I leave sugar leaves or dont trim close enough those buds will have a significantly more pronounced grass smell. Leaving leaves on to dry might help flavor or whatever but it is a total pain in the ass. I also was not impressed with the results.
