Why does this smell like ammonia?

I just picked up some bud off a guy who normally has real dank bud. this time it was some funky looking bud and at first it smelled great. but then as i started grinding it all up it smelled like ammonia pretty strongly. the bud itself was brownish and hard and looked like it may have started to rot before harvest or something. im already smoked a few bowls but now i dont want to finish it because of the ammonia smell. i looked at it in a scope and i didnt see mold. and its real bud cuz i see the triches. what gives??

where i come from we get anfetamin sufate [speed] it smells like cats piss maybe he wants to funk you up with upers and downers

well i smoked some and it was just a regular high. its not laced. but it does kinda smell like cat piss. haha. if it looked good i wouldnt think twice, but it looked like real smooth and it was just stale feeling when i broke it up. should i roll the rest up?

i had a whole grow do this to me.... IDK what caused it. i grow organic's, with the same soil and tea recipe every time.. i was growing White Widow, a few people were saying there is a "Cat piss" or PK pheeno of WW that smells like cat piss....

it was nice and dank smoke.. everyone likes smoking it, just not the smell... i ended up calling it "the cats ass". when people asked why i told them to smell it :leaf:

P.S: does it TASTE funny? thats the biggest thing. if it has a funny taste then its probably the fertilizers....

true. it doesnt taste super weird. just tastes like a strain ive never had. dude said it was grape ape. ive never had that before so im not sure. but im high and its not making me cough more than usual so im just gonna kill it :blsmoke:

^^ Since it doesn't taste funny, it's probably just a " Cat Piss " pheno of SSH, WW, an older Afghan or even the strain Cat Piss, which seems to be easier to come by on the West Coast.

When done right, Cat Piss the strain, reeks of ammonia, badly. But the smell doesn't carry over to the taste, and it has a great up high......
.

I never realized untill you said it.... Many of the growers in BC plant around swamps, that have a natural smell of ammonia..... Ammonia smelling bud would hide its smell with the Natural smells around.. Genius.

It smokes good, Gets you fried.. Im thinking its just a Piss strain.

I once cured some bud that was really wet. I never saw any mold but it did have an ammonia smell///probably needed more drying before jarring.

im thinking it this. the bud looks like it may have started to rot but then he took it out or something. but there is definitely a cat piss smell/ taste to it. where did he get the name grape ape? its not even purple -_-

its NOT grape ape, i can Guarentee you that much.....

if it was, you would be PISSED right off, GA generaly costs $60/eighth and $100/Quarter $350/OZ... and thats in Vancouver canada, where it is plentiful..... Down in Cali where its Rare it can go for $420/OZ....

i wouldn't trust the dealer. period... if he's lying about the strain whats stopping him about lying about other shit?

P.S: if your not on the west coast its DEFINITELY not grape ape. as far as i have hears, the farthest east GA has made it is Nevada.....

i knew it wasnt as soon as li laid eyes on it. in fact as soon as laid eyes on it i thought it was some fake bud. until i looked at it under the scoped and said the triches. i just dont wanna f my lungs by smoking some bud some dude didnt cure right.
but i have seen some pretty big named buds around the east coast. not a whole lot of people like to order seeds like i do though :fire:

well then im sorry to say, that basicly NONE of the commercial weed is cured. its dried, bagged, dried some more and sold.... thats the way its been for the last 40 years + its the fastest rout to market.

You got the club price right for Cali, but on the street it's cheaper and easy to find. I have 50 grape ape seeds and grew a few of them before. It's chronic as hell and it's like half green, half purp.

Right there your wrong. you may have through it was GA, and it might have been crossed with it... but thats Not Grape ape.

There are NO Grape ape seeds. its a clone only strain....

Damn, I didn't know that. It must be crossed then because I got them from some decent bud like 2 years ago and got these seeds and grew a few and it turned into this. It also tasted and smelt like grape ape after I cured it perfectly and smoked some of it. Thats why I thought it was grape ape. IMG_0230.jpg
