Ignorance speaks loudly. Thanks for the response. Feed the stereotypes, they sure are hungry for folks like yourself.
nearly 70% of Alaskans are unaware of their own medical marijuana laws.

Aside from the obvious, there has not been any convictions in AK that we are aware of, involving a medical marijuana patient... That speaks for its self.

I knew we could have more than the 6 plants; I just didn't know exactly how many. Still best to fly under the radar whenever possible, for several reasons. BTW, I've got a source for the legendary MTF, from a lady that has been cloning the original strain since the mid 70's!!

I have a story I thought would be relevant. Anyway I grew plants for along time for stomach issues I have had since my teens. I never saw a problem with my activities because it was just for me. My family has always known what I do and were very supportive of my choice to live a better life and take my health issues into my own hands. One day my mom told me "get your card" my reply was "no need to" to which she replied "there is strength in numbers and if your not part of the solution your part of the problem". Genius I thought then she replied again saying " the laws will only change when the %of cards holders is enough to change the votes and this needs to be a statistical display" . To make a long story short I got my card. We to have oppressive plant #s here in my state we must work with but with good genetics and techniques we can still pull down a decent amount of primo meds. Personaly I don't watch television so my story comes from the heart and what ever you choose to do have some fun doing it

Growing pot is a way of life in Trapper Creek, Alaska. I've lived here for twelve years. it's legal to have a quarter-pound of cured stash in the home, and your next crop in vegetation. I know this because a neighbor snitched on me and a State Trooper investigated. He assured my girlfriend and me that it's still legal in Alaska as long as it's in the home.

When the Talkeetna medical clinic took me off my meds they told me the meds were killing me quicker than the medical problems and suggested medical marijuana. They refused to write a prescription, saying they'd lose their federal funding. They gave me five years to live...eight years ago. I still have no card, but rumor has it we're about to get a full-time doctor who writes marijuana prescriptions, so I'm gong to get one as soon as possible. That way i can take some with me to the local swimming hole and not worry who cares what i'm doing.

Twenty-four plants is NOT legal in Alaska, it's a misdemeanor crime. A cured quarter-pound is legal, with the next in vegetation. If anyone knows an Alaskan doctor writing marijuana prescriptions I'd be grateful for the information.

I need a card because national companies have "policies" regarding working and marijuana. I cannot find a doctor in Alaska, however, that will comply with the law and write a prescription for me. They'd rather give me pills that make me addicted and support corporations instead of allowing me the medicine that I know works. I have a herniated disc in my neck that causes me pain whenever I lie down to sleep. Smoking a bit of marijuana before bedtime helps a lot. But doctors up here are still afraid of getting busted by the feds from what I can tell.

Does ANYONE know of a doctor in Alaska that will prescribe? I have been asking people I know for about 2 years now and have had no leads.

Thanks,

LahTera

Laws don't make sense these days. Since the Department of Justice refuses to follow their own laws, I refuse to follow stupid ones.

There is a doc that comes to anchorage once a month. I got my paperwork through him. You don’t get a prescription for meds you only get the signed paperwork to get a card that allows you to have a small amount of meds legally. No scripts or dispensaries here in alaska you just get the card.

TCbob thanks you, oldthumber, for that information... I learned yesteday that a local gal is on medial marijuana. I should be able to find out who is her doctor. Otherwise, it's nice to know there's someone in Anchorage, thanks.

The medical community is just getting started in AK, more cards have been given out in 2012 alone than all other years combined since the program's inception in 1999.

Alaska Dispatch, Jill Burke, July 2012,
In 1999, the registry had 28 names.

• In 2010, it had more than quadrupled in size to 130 people.
• By 2011, that figure had more than doubled, to 287 registrants.
• In July 2012, the Alaska Medical Marijuana Registry is just four patients shy of 1,000.
http://www.alaskadispatch.com/article/new-alaska-medical-marijuana-clinic-banks-hazy-enforcement-policies

The clinic performing this service is "the healing center", http://www.thehealingcentermedicalclinic.org/. I do not want this to look like I am making a plug for these guys, but as a prior Oregon OMMP card holder I was eager to get my card when I moved up here and was unable to find a Dr. that would sign my paper work for 3 years, until these guys came to town, and I have a chronic autoimmune disease that can get me all the narcotics I want but couldnt get a Dr. in this state to put their neck out for MJ. The guy at The Healing Center charges a lot, but you wont find anyone else in town to get you registered.

In regards to the 24 plants/.25LB rule being compared to the meager 6 plants 1oz aloud by the medical registration, the medical community up here is so small that there has been no push for change, or precedent for the current restrictions being sufficient or insufficient for patients. Hopefully there will be an amendment to the medical limits and hopefully from a bill, not from a court case that has to set precedence, but we will see change in the future, the current restrictions, as aforementioned, simply do not make sense.

If you are an alaskan and can qualify for your medical registration, please do so. The more of us there are, the more power we have in being treated fairly by both the federal and state enforcement agencies that want to keep our medicine out of our hands.
