Why get a tattoo?

Tomorrow I'm getting my first tattoo. Getting it at a tattoo and rock festival in RI. It's taken me ages to find jst 1 tattoo that I like enough to get on my body (after all it's there for life). It's gonna be on my left ankle right above that nob on your foot. It's gonna hurt like a bitch but I'm looking forward to it. For me, a tattoo needs to look good. Too be honest I'd love to get some on my neck and hands but I'm concerned abt employement. Not too many offices will hire a dude with a huge pot leaf on his neck. Jst wondering other peoples opinions on tat's in relation to the work environment. Thanks!

I think in later years...maybe 10 or 15 down the road there will be laws against some sort of "artistic discrimination" it wont be long before the corporate world doesn't look down on tattoos

I have an Irish Celtic design on my neck. & I plan on getting roses all over the other side of my neck. I never had problems with my ink. I go about my day with respect for people & I avoid conflicts thru reasoning & good judgement. The amount of ink on my body doesn't need to be what I'm about. If people feel they need to judge me before they know than I'm at least glad I dnt have to be around any1 who's ignorant enough to label me below them. I love my body. I will ink it up. I prob will "look" bad to society but I will contribute to it in a positive way. People can say what they want.

That would be great, but I'd sacrifice it to see pot legalized in 5 yrs.

This is kinda off topic but when i was younger (abt 20) I ran into some H.A.'s at a steak house. The first thing I noticed was the fact that they looked very intimidating. However, I spoke too them and they were the most polite group of guys I ever met. Even offered to buy me a beer, but my mom was there and she said no. It sucks that society is so prone to stereotyping.

It happens. People say I'm the nicest guy around & I am that's why every1 owes me money. Get your tatts man. People outtheir that look super "normal" end up being murderers so why can't some1 that looks "crazy" be a godsend from heaven.

tats on ankels do hurt like a bitch.. i have both of mine done so i know..goodluck n be strong..........lol.................

I know the chapter leader of MIA and hes one chill ass mother fucker!!

Im covered w/ tattoos, 1 arm completely sleeved the other 1/2 done, both legs sleeved from ankle to the top of my thighs.
Not a problem for me at work im a tattooist

My suggestion is to get your first tattoo somewhere you can cover up easily w/ clothing (ankle, shoulder etc.)
I dont get as many odd looks as I did years ago, mostly the 50+ crowd that has the negative stereotype of tattoos and tattooed people.
BTW bikers are great people and customers, rather have them at the shop than 19 year old idiot wannabe gangbangers.

Well I had a blast at rock the ink. Tons of people and stuff to do. I did get my ankle done and it wasn't that bad. Kinda reminds me of getting a sunburn rubbed with sandpaper. Either way thanks for the info + support. Later
