Why I'm not a Republican ...

Where have I been?

I've more than aware that Spector "turned" Democrat.

What actually happened was that Michael Steele, the head of the RNC, made the statement that the three Republicans who voted for the last stimulus package would not be receiving monetary help from the RNC for their next campaigns.

In other words, as I stated, they are being purged from the Republican Party.

Spector recognized that he didn't stand a chance in hell of being reelected as a Republican, so like the rat he is, he jumped ship.

Olympia Snow and Susan Collins are the other two Republicans who will be running without funds from the RNC.

Like I said, watch for the RNC to be supporting true conservative/libertarian candidates in 2010.

PS: Loved your Ayn Rand post. :)

It needs to happen. If politics was not intended to be a choice between two opposing views, what do we need politicians for. A monarchy would do just as grandly.

Just goes to show that no matter the party you belong to, a rat is a rat. Specter is a rat jumping off a ship and onto the docks. Seems to me the longer a politician is in office the more willing he is to do nearly anything to make sure his precious "power" position stays intact. They stop caring about the citizens and caring only for their own reelection. Term Limits might help ease the situation and keep the honest honest.

But where would the old politicians go to die? And for Specter, why would the Dems want a conniving, unprincipled dude like that in their party? I just don't get it...

1. The Democrats don't recognize the terms "conniving" and "unprincipled."

2. With Spector joining the party, and assuming Al Franken wins the court battle over the election in Minnesota, the Dems will end up with an unchallenged majority in the Senate. At that point, we will have the dictatorship of one party rule.
