Surprised no one mentioned this... there is (obviously) a lot of extra water content in beer compared to hard liquor, and you will dehydrate slower when drinking it as a result. Alcohol is a diuretic and causes you to pee a lot... with hard liquor that extra water's coming out of your body, with beer it's coming out of the beer.
Also, like someone said, caloric value, so it's kind of like the difference between drinking with a meal and water, or just drinking straight liquor.
I like wine.
