how far is your lights from the seedlings? it looks like the lights were too far, and they streched so much that they can't even support themselves, oh yeah, and HPS, right?

The light was probably so far away that they stretched way to far, as for why they bent over, the stem was probably so lanky it couldn't stay up so it bent over, but as you moved the light bertter, they started to grow back towards the light. Shouldn't really be a problem.

the light is too far away, move it as close as you can, but put your hand under the light. when you cant feel the heat from the light, thats the ideal distance away.

also, make sure u have a fan there somewhere, so theres air bowing on the plant, lack of air circulation often causes problems.

oh, what light have you got, it looks like a hps?

nah im using CFLs and thanks for the input. just wanted to make sure it wasn't some sort of nutrient deficiency. I'll keep the lights nice and close where they are now. hopefully I can get some more power for them.

no, go for whatever the cfl is, i just cant remember most conversions of them. the ones i used to use, but cant find anymore were 32w, but 135w equivilent, theyd be best, they were daylight spectrum. but defo try and aim for 100w of cfl, before the incandesent value.

hmm idk 100w would probably need a ballast of some sort or need the floodlight housing. I will try and get more bulbs, but probably not that high just more quantity. I'd rather just be able to screw it into any socket and go lol....lazy grower.

yup put the light a lil closer and make sure the hydroton is higher up the stem you dont want roots showing. then take two fairly heavy but small object put them around the plant to make it hold up. This will make your leaves turn up towards the good strong light. At the same time get a small fan to blow at the babies they will toughen up like no other. But you have to add more hydroton

loz hit the nail on the head, rep to him

cfls can be within a few inches from the tops of your plant, like loz said it can you can test if it will be harmful by putting your hand near the bulb and seeing where its warm.

i grow my plant by window light and then under 1 13w CFL(100w incandescent equivalent) once the sun is gone. im just starting an outdoor grow indoors with what i have before people start telling me i need more light too; but my plant is also a little stretchy from poor lighting. but you can burry the plant up to just below the first set of true leafs(once the cotyledons have withered up). i dont know how you would do this in a hydro set up though....

speaking of cotyledons , you dont need to worry about nutrients and deficiencies until the cotyledons wither up and no longer support the plant. i lost mine at week 3 and started giving them a small amount of nutrients

They were stretching, and then you moved the lights, so they are repositioning their grow tips to aim towards the most intense light. It also looks like they were falling over before you moved the lights. Correct? You can prop them up straight if you want to, and then the grow tip will straighten out and aim upwards towards the light. But, the most important thing is to give them more light so they don't keep stretching, as mentioned. :)
