Hahaha!!

Let's see who is the fastest and most informed.

Many reasons have been spewed on why Obama killed the Constellation Space program started by Ol' Georgie Porgie duece.

BUT.... does anyone have the REAL and TRUE reason why Obama killed it?

Everyone gets one swing. If you make multiple guesses, I will only respond to the first one. If the next fellow gets it on the following post, they win.

What do you win?

Meaningless REP ... but I'm a heavy hitter, so you get LOTS of meaningless rep....

So I, as is painfully obvious, Cracker, KNOW the real reason why the Constellation Program was canceled...

Do you?

We'll see.

I am curious as well.... I don't want to say who I THINK may come up with it. That would skew the thread.

Also be aware that I am repped out for today... (yes, I actually do that)

But like Wimpie says, I will gladly pay you Tuesday for an answer today. If you don't know who Wimpie is.... ur not American.

Because Geithner didn't give Obama permission to do so. That money is earmarked for gold plated Mercedes for the unelected money lords of the USA.

Because there is a radiation belt between the earth and the moon that is lethal. The only craft we have currently do not provide enough protection to penetrate that radiation belt safely.

Oh crap, I have to watch another you tube....

We're Broke.
I can't say you are wrong you pecker...
But that's not the real reason....

Because Geithner didn't give Obama permission to do so. That money is earmarked for gold plated Mercedes for the unelected money lords of the USA.
Same as above.... you guys are on fire.... but wrong.

some astronauts talking

officially it's because the program 'lacked innovation'

to me it's two reasons:

1) we can't go and comeback on a single tank of gas with the technology in place. it's just too far.

2) After years and years of researching the moon, there is no reason for humans to want to be there. the landscape is extremely desolate, the soil infertile, temperatures extreme, little to no water, and little chance of there being any sort of life. not exactly the scientific goldmine you'd expect from hundreds of millions of dollars of investment.

i'm not. the space shuttle doesn't release it's tank full of fuel. it lets it go when it's completely empty.

the space shuttle comes back because it slows down just enough for earth's gravity to pull it in. it doesn't blast off back to earth, it eases it's way down, with very VERY little fuel.

the fuel the space shuttle uses for launch has to be kept at well below freezing temperatures up until the very last moment to keep it stable. i don't think NASA has developed a method for transporting frozen fuel through the scorching hot temperatures of space.

and humans have not developed any other propulsion system for traveling in space. it's either a rocket, or a rocket....

i think it makes sense.... if you don't... ok....

which moon are you talking about?
A single tank of gas? Cant go? I thought they already did!

Life? :lol:Infertile soil? Was you planning on having a guerrilla grow there?

Lots of reasons WHY it was scrapped...but mainly MONEY is just not not there. Talks about re-fitting NASA to work closer with the PRIVATE/PUBLIC sector on future operations looks like a strong possiblity as well. Heavy Lift near earth orbit vehicles are in the making... again there is NO ONE SINGLE correct answer, sorry chief! ;)

Okay... let's recap... everyone is wrong....

Hahah!! No, not wrong in ur thinking...(except for Red that is...Red...Red...are you in there Red? Calling Red)....just the guesses to the true reason why.

It's pretty dangerous to run the main engines until the tank is empty. The tank is ALWAYS released with some fuel (H and O2)

the space shuttle comes back because it slows down just enough for earth's gravity to pull it in. it doesn't blast off back to earth, it eases it's way down, with very VERY little fuel.
Pretty much...I won't pick

In fact space is VERY cold and it's pretty easy to mitigate radiant heat from the sun.

and humans have not developed any other propulsion system for traveling in space. it's either a rocket, or a rocket....
Ion thusters are currently in use for propulsion in space. However, to reach escape velocity/Orbit it's just rockets.

because billie boy was laundering money thru the program and it means nothing. His pockets are so fat that he could squeeze a fart and pay your house note off!!
