Does anyone have experience with wick watering? Is it sufficient to maintain grown plants? How many wicks would I need per plant? Thank you!

how long do you have to go away for? if its a week or more you need to be looking into an automated watering system, which you can diy rather easily, if its just a couple days you can get away with one of these watering globe things which you can find almost anywhere that has a garden section. type of medium you grow in will be the biggest factor in the effectiveness of these things however, theyre pretty good for soil grows but like coco for example dries out quicker so this thing will only keep coco moist for a day or 2.

Heres some pics of my DIY automated watering system, i run through a chiller myself but you may or may not need one depending on your area. Aside from the chiller its pretty simple and straightforward, 16gal barrel for a res, 300gph pump hooked up to a digital timer with 1minute interval settings, youd obviously have to play with it in your setup to figure out how long and often you need the pump to kick on, i do 4 plants perpetually in a 2x2 in 2gal pots with coco, my pump kicks on once a day for exactly 1 minute, which using the open 1/4 lines with the floraflex caps gives me appx 15% runoff from each pot so works out perfect for me.

Draining out is where youll have more troubles usually than getting the water where you want it, i cant get a picture of it because of where it sits but all 4 pots drain into 1 small container than has a float switch and 200gph pump, when the float switch is activated it turns on the pump and pumps my runoff directly out through the wall.
