Will 2 400W be Worth the Electricity vs 1 600W, 2x4 Space

Well the title pretty much nails it...

I am nearing the end of my cycle, and I am trying to decide if I need to change my lighting set up before the next run, since I need new bulbs anyway, and have lots of spare ballasts I could use.

I use 2 400W CMH's, for my 2x4 room. Would I be better off using 1 600W bulb for flowering in this space? OR would I lose out come harvest time from the limited spectrum of the 600W? My guess is to stick with the 2 400W, but my concern lies in the extra money spent on the power bill...

Any Opinions on my situation are welcome!!!

Also, I have an A/C vent intake for the room, and a great exhaust. Using a 30inch Cool tube now, but I was thinking if I swapped to the 600W I would get a Super sun 2.

well 400 plus 400 equals 800, which is more than 600! plus that fact that the light source is coming from to points is better than one! Here is a little chart to help explain. (I get most of my charts from (Marijuana Horticulture indoor/outdoor growers bible by Jorge cervantes)

How is it working out? If it's not broke don't fix it. Go down to one light if money is the problem.

CMH huh. Those are nice. I would srtick with the quality and look for savings somewhere else in your budget

Thanks for the help in reconfirming what I was thinking about the two 400's. As a matter of fact noguts, his book is what gave me the idea originally to set it up. I guess I should stick with what works. What kind of yields should I expect from a 2x4? Last run I pulled about 1.2lbs, with soil, and this run I am using coco in air pots, hoping for more.

good that you are going with multiple light sources. are you running co2?

No CO2 in my set up, since the air in my room is exchanged multiple times per minute, and I have 4 fans circulating the air as well. I have a 449cfm Exhaust with an active intake straight from the A/C from my house. It was my way of avoiding the cost of the whole CO2 thing.

hey bargar...just givin a little comparison...i did my first few grows under 2 400's also...hps not cmh though...i had 18 plants in 3 gallon bags and pulled 19 ounces which is right around ur 1.2 pounds...my room was 6'x7'...and u did yours in a 2x4' room???thats fuckin sick bro...how many plants did u have stuffed in there???
