Will a 400w HPS work?

Hey everyone, I'm about to purchase a hps for my grow cab and i'm debating on whether to get the 250w or the 400w. My grow space is 3'4" high, 2' 4" deep, and 3' 7" wide.

Will the 400w create too much heat?

i plan on growing 6 plants, (not fem seeds) so i'm sure ill get a couple males at least. which will hopefully leave me with 4 plants

this will be done SCRog style

Strain will be northern lights x Shiva.

Thanks

personally i would go with the 250 watt and if it goes well add another light, so u will do two things add the wattage still and spread the light evenly over the canopy so u will only gain. it may just be costly to by additional ballast or whatever is required for the wattage

i just went from a 150w to 400w in a cab the same as yours but mine is 6ft high ,
my temps went from 80 to 94 depending on where you check the temp hi/lo
now im adding a 4" high speed inline for the cab. mine grew 12 " in 3 wks on the 150w i just got greedy and want to waste more $$$
any way 250 should be good for the space

my space is 3'x3'x3' and i have a 400W HPS, if you plan on using air cooled lights or using a batwing reflector with a kind of ghetto rigged air duct hooked to it, then yes, itll be ok. i threw my buddies 400W in there and it is hot but you can keep it in a good range if you keep it cool, be sure to have intake blowing on the light, and outtake from an air duct attached to the light. and an exhaust fan attached to that ducting. be sure not to have the air ducting to long otherwise the fan's CFM will decrease (cubic ft. per min) i plan on ordering a 400W HPS and get a 4" 80CFM fan and 4" ducting, mabye 6" and a 6" fan. its all good if you have lots of airflow. 400 will be the only way to get some weight on the plants. someone once told me 150&250W make buds the size of your thumb 400W make buds the size of your thigh. thats the difference. go look at the pics on the 250W club and the 400W club and youll see the difference. you will want to get a glass lens over the bulb inbetween the plants and light as well. if not its not that big of a deal because glass lens's and cool tubes create hot spots (kind of acts as a magnifying glass) but yea, just keep it cool, if you go to my gallery you will see the space im using, however i have no pics of the light in there yet.

what kind of yield are you hoping for?

is this your first grow or are you experienced?

In that small of a space, i would air cool whatever light you put in it. 27 cubic feet will heat up real quick even from a 250. Whatever you do, PLAN BEFORE YOU BUY.

Yeah hes right and also when you do buy take a look at strains like Fast blast u can go straight 12/12 and it wont get that tall and youll have better bud then when you buy an autoflowering strain imo
