Will a root bound plant do this?

Trying to reflect on an issue I just delt with.
plant showed multiple deficiencies. I figured lock out and or overfed. Flushed medium, finished with a very light tea. Let her dry up and then transplanted from 7gal to 15gal

First pics are the plant before flush, then the rootball after the flush. Last pic was yesterday.

leaf issues seem to have stopped and only signs of very minimal tip burn remain, some on new growth as well though.

looking to figure out if the issue was JUST a root-bound plant. Or if it was in fact possibly overfed and or locked out.

You will get a burst of growth and then it will settle down again. That root photo is typical of plastic pots. I'm changing to felt pots, the difference in yield is remarkable.

It was from your feeding. And that's not really root bound. The plant this root ball came from grew just fine.

I did 3 gal fabric pots my last run. I liked them and the roots perfectly air pruned. But they’re a pain with training and I like doing a lot of training.

Ya that plant is definitely not root bound like XTSHO said! Looks like either a deficiency or lock out id try plain water and check the run off if really high just use plain water for the next few times ( I only flush if plant looks like it’s really hurting!!) if low feed and add cal mag! As a plant uses more of its pot for roots nutrient problems will happen fast as there is less soil to buffer any issues but that plant is far from root bound. The key to knowing what’s wrong with your plant is knowing what’s going on in the media you are using SOIL, HYDRO, etc.

thanks man. Yeah she was flushed. It had to be done. She’s looking much healthier now. Still getting yellow tips on new growth though but the issue seems to have grinded to a halt. I’m flipping to flower this weekend as I can wait for full full health. She looks ok enough. Just not sure how to continue feeding now. Should I load up a healthy top dress or keep it maybe half strength and see how she does?

photo is from this morning. She looks great from a distance but up close you can see there’s still slight issues.

Sweet ya looks miles better keep up the good work sometimes a little stress can be a good thing.

Well she has almost made a full recovery. Tiniest amount of tip burn and new growth seems a paler shade of green so I’m thinking she’s good for a feeding now that I’m flipping to flower. My watering has been on point and I think I figured it out for the most part. Imo some of this issue was PH related from bad watering, as well as a bit too much food

Most of mine in plastic buckets look like this. I would not call them root bound though as there was still a lot of soil for them to grow. The outside walls of the bucket is where a lot of the water drains.
