whut up greenthumbs? figured i post a question i'm quite curious about. currently i pH about 1 gallon at a time. my pH out of the tap is about 7.8. I usually use 5 drops of pH lower to get it to 6.5-7. then I add my fox farm grow big nutes (in veg). does adding the nutes change my pH? should i adjust my pH AFTER i add nutes?

I'm using the FoxFarm line of nutrients in my grow. For best results you should use Grow Big, Tiger Bloom, and Big Bloom according to the schedule provided on the FoxFarm website. I've found that their solubles help immensely! Solubles are Open Sesame, Beastie Bloomz, and Cha Ching. If you order these solubles in the trial pack you can probably find them for about $80 including shipping. Amazon.com has them as well as a lot of online hydroshops. My local hydroshop only had the larger containers and were charing $45 for each one. The tri-pack is a great buy and I have a bunch left over so far. The one you'll use most of is the Cha Ching. I'm telling you, you really can't go wrong with these nutes and solubles. I am growing nice tight buds and they're are getting nice and fat. Really sticky!

Oh, also, to answer your question. . . I've found that each nute and soluble changes the PH level. It helps to PH one gallon at a time but you should add the nutes to each gallon of water and then PH each gallon. Then after you've put them all together, PH again and adjust accordingly.

i live in mexico and can find anything to raise my pH. i know broke ass foos use peroxide or baking soda to raise or lower. Which raises, and which lowers? how much approximately per gallon to raise one full point (1.0)? i guess i could just search it, hopefully someone will answer.

Both peroxide and baking soda would raise your PH.

Phosphoric acid can lower PH.
Chlorine will lower PH. I guess you could try a few drops of bleach but I don't think that would be good for the plant.

Peatmoss added to the reservoir would lower the PH, basically biomass waste. Things like a small bag of tightly bound hay would work. You'd have to experiment with it a little though.

i dont know about grow big, i only used it one time and i didnt check the pH. i know big bloom and tiger bloom together drop it about 2.2-2.5. you want you pH to be about 6.2-6.8.

what will drop it to the perfect pH? my Fox farm GROW BIG?
Nothing will make it perfect for everybody. It all depends on what the PH is in the first place. You really need to check your water PH first so you know where you're starting from. Then add the nutrients you'll be using (I'd do this step one gallon at a time). Then PH the gallon of water and nutes. Then when it's around 5.8-6.3 pour it into your reservoir and repeat until the water level is where you want it to be in the reservoir. Then give it a good stir and check the PH again. PH should be dead on or close to it. Adjust PH accordingly after that.

yah.. im not sure what would raise your ph aside from store bought ph up.. i think it is only like ten bucks or so, not that pricey.. you could always do a google and check, but make sure it says that it is safe to use on plants..
fox farms products will have a big affect on your ph.. i phed my tap water with nothing added and it was 8.5, yummy lol.. and i rechecked it again after adding the fox farms trio of nutes, and it brought it down to about 6.4 or so, which was perfect.. and i do think that is what the other poster was reffering to about making your ph perfect was by adding the fox farms nutes..
and you are right about phing after you add the nutes, this way you won't have to add ph up or down twice.. do it afterwards and you will only have to ph it once.
best of luck with your grow though
