Something I use in my hiking is balloon lights. I bought 100 of them for 15 bucks. You do need some light to check out your plants. You can cup these in your hand so the amount of light is limited. And not that it matters to a non hiker, they weigh almost nothing.
I had a whole bunch of my plants go hermie and the only thing that differed from my other concurrent grow was having a flashlight out on them 3-4 times a week.
