Will I have Heat Probs? 1000w HPS

Hello,

Gonna keep it quick and basic, just hoping to get opinions on the setup.

ENVIRONMENT:

4'11" x 4'11" x 6'7" Secret Jardin Grow tent.

1000w HPS digital light, generic reflector

160 inline duct booster fan pulling intake air, due to proximity to the ocean, the outside air will very rarely hit 80 degrees, so typically 72-78.

424 CFM 6" inline fan with 6" carbon scrubber attached.

Multiple Oscillating fans over plants.

Will the forced intake of the outside air thats typically 70-78 degrees be enough in combination with the 424 cfm exhaust (which will be slightly limited from the filter on it)?

In a grow tent with a 1,000 watt juggernaut you will always have that possibility of heat issues. Most people use 400 or 600 watters in grow tents.

you will definately have issues, esecially if the ambient temps without the light are around 75, the 1000 watts will add quite a bit of heat to that. Make sure you have an air-cooled fixture and get as much air flow pulling through the fixture as possible so that most of the heat stays out of your tent. Good luck.

I have pretty much that setup with a 600watter instead of the kilowatter and I have heat issues in the day,. Night is ok and it runs a like 85. Sometimes I have to turn the a/c on at night too though when I see the temps at like 90 or above.

Hmm, well, I plan to use it just for flowering, now im thinking I could go from 7pm-7am and get outside air thats most likely under 70 degrees, probs 60-68 average(weather.com says the low tonight will be 62, and this is summer), think I may be able to get away with that? How how is it during the day and at night where you live?

Anyone think theres a way to pull it off without an air cooled reflector or A/C? I'd really like to avoid having to go with a Co2 system which I assumed I would need if my ventilation is only sucking out the hot air by the lamp.

the aircooled hood is a good idea for another reason. you don't really have much vertical space to take advantage of the 1000 but at least an air cooled hood lets you have the light as close to the plants as possible, thus giving you more room to grow larger plants.

No matter what you do you still may have problems with heat, the only way to really know unfortunately is to try. The only thing I would change about that would be to take the intake and make it a second exhaust on the top of the tent. Active intake is rarely necessary and the more hot air you have leaving the tent the cooler the tent will be, and with that much air being scrubbed unless you are growing a particularly smelly strain, you shouldn't really have a problem with odor. Good luck again.

70-78, being 78 is the hottest the whole day?

Thats not bad but, depending on your grow room size, it can increase it by 20-30 degrees. My air cooled hood lowers it by 10ish.. AC should help alot though.

Just thought I'd follow up and let you guys know.

I actually had to turn the exhaust fan DOWN with a regulator to like 5/8's power, during the day my temperatures are 72-76ish, night time, i haven't seen it above 82.

Plants are happy
