Also interested in everyone’s advice on pollen storage (hence why I posted in the breeder’s section ).
Had a variety of seeds pop up around Jan.11/2021; it is now Feb.18/‘21.
Since you are most likely a breeder reading this here’s the details-
Ordered/Shipped through Seedsman-
Durban Poison-Landrace(*) Sativa, Feminized, by Dutch Passion, 5/5 popped and are doing great! (*i’ve heard this can be hard to verify pure landrace strains of)
S. African Kwazulu- Landrace Sativa, Regular, by World of Seeds, 2/5 popped, but the two were very hardy with good stems, one shorter and one taller.
White Widow- Hybrid, Free Sample, Feminized, unsure breeder as came in Seedsman order with Dutch Passion and World of Seeds, 3/3 popped, one grew twisty, died, other two looking well and fortunately warm enough (read they like it hot)!
Blueberry OG- Hybrid, Feminized(*), Freebie of uknown breeder (see WW entry above), 3/3 popped though one twisted off quick, and another withered up after bad transplant. 1 still alive (*this is where our pollen comes from...)
Also-
Banana Kush- Hybrid, Autoflower, by Pacific Seeds, 2/5 popped but are doing great besides maybe being slower to flower- first time trying autos
Freakshow- Hybrid, Regular, by Humboldt Seeds, 4/5 popped and live today! Got a stunted one from trying out too-big a pot for first transplant, but all are a cool looking plant I may just breed as a yard shrub, no joke!
All plants around 5 weeks old. Started on 15/9 light/dark in insulated greenhouse (near coast, NorCal) with heat rods and two t-5s. Moved inside to avoid icy-snap around 2wks in, put on 18/6 cycle, and would move to greenhouse during sunny day hours. Then moved 2 days ago to small greenhouse to start catching more natural light again.
Within first week, survivor-Blueberry was super stretchy. Transplanted second week from aerocloner with rapid rooter plugs (worked to germinate with heat pad under it!). Noticed what I hopef were calyxes forming then- within a couple days they were obviously balls! Looked very mature by week 3-4, with barely a third true-set of leaves.
I kept it with the others until today (Feb.18/‘21) because I figured I still had a bit of time before I flip (not counting my autos but they aren’t throwing hairs much yet, and meh- we’ll see what happens there!)
I noticed a good amount of spilled pollen on Blueballs little lower leaf. Have a small enclosable space, and going to move most from there into large greenhouse and outdoor later, but
should I worry about the pollen sticking to or herming my 5wk.old vegetating plants?
what is your method of saving pollen?
Also!- someone on another forum claimed that vegging plants can still be pollinated and would produce only a few, easily-harvested, budless-seeds (flip the script, haha!), and could still be flipped for a seedless flower after. -Thoughts? (Screenshot below, from “420 Forum” or something like that; hope it’s okay to post...)
5 weeks old from sprouting! Second pic I had already clipped most pods. Left the ones at top and keeping plant alive, away from others.
