will someone check my seedlings out.... please

I am brand new and humbled by this experience, it is more work than I realized but I am having fun learning.
I have 7 seedlings. all about 1 week old. do they look normal to you? Please dont laugh at my novice set up.

MG potting mix.
2 florecent bulbs
75watts a piece

18/6

they seem so long and skinny..... is this normal ??

dont want to forget to mention, there is 1inch of perlite on top due to fungas gnats that I believe came with the soil I bought.

This is normal....For this type of setup. CFL's are hardly enough to grow with, but it can be done. You need cool and warm cfls to hit both the red and blue ends of the light spectrum.

Your plants are stretching cause they need to be closer to the lights, as close as possible without them getting damaged from heat.

get the lights closer to the plant...
and put some kind of breeze in there to strengthen your stalks...

Those lights are miles away! Mine are 2inch away from the top of my plants.

They are stretching to reach the light. Florescent lights do not have a great intensity at that kind of distance.

You can prop those stalks up with some little sticks.

Also try and get all of the plants at the same sort of level so it's easier for you to keep the light close to them all.

thank you so very much. I had the lights closer but I noticed some of the leaves were slightly brown, now I am thinking it was not the lights but the fact I was overwatering with MG potting mix. I didnt know it releases nutes everytime you water.
yes I know I have a lot to learn. =)

yes very smart. great idea! There is zero breeze in that closet. thanks for the advice

thank you very much. I need both cool and warm to hit the red and blues. note taken and I will make sure I go get the correct bulbs!

you dont want two plants in one pot. its also better the grow seeds in party cups and not go straight into a big pot because it trains plants to make a rootball in a little area then spread out (doing this helps stop the plant from getting rootbound.)

as a novice I have done many things wrong.
I started out in the small party cups, but trasplanted 2days ago... I thought maybe the cups were to small (now I know they werent)

on top of that.... I guess one of the party cups had 2 seens in it... because low and behold there are 2 plants now ......

do you think now in the bigger pots I will have trouble?

no being pretty much right in big pots doesnt meen you WILL have problems just slightly more likely. i would either kill one of the seedlings that are in the same pot or see if you can get it out with its roots because that WILL cause problems

2 plants in one pot does not mean problems. It can lead to problems. Ive grown as many as 3 regulars in one 5 gallon pot, Ive grown over 11 autoflowers in a 5 gallon as well. No problems, yeild on plants grown together compared to ones grown separately was taken into account, there was no major average difference between the differing growing types.

will do, thank you... of course Im going to try to save it... we will see. Its amazing how attached you get to them even as seedlings.

what CFL bulbs are you using? (daylight, soft white) there is sometimes a rating on the bulbs (2700K, 4000K, 5000k........) check this thread out it will help with your lighting questions. https://www.rollitup.org/cfl-growing/107992-tutorial-growing-cfls.html

as far as your seedlings go i would try and bury them up to the leaves (the buried stem will grow roots once its under the soil and get your lights as close as possible to the plants like OP said.

you can try and prop them up with a stick but the replanting method works better just be carefull when u pull them out, make sure you have a new home for them all set up and empty the entire cup out and carefully remove the seedling so that you dont damage any of the roots, then put them in a cup that has about 1-2 in of soil in it and fill it up till you hit about 1/4 of a inch from the leaves. then get that fan on them verry light breeze will help them strengthen.
