Will these clones make it?

Hi all,

I'm a newbie grower- I have one plant, off which I took 6 cuttings. I have put them in peat pellets and have kept them for 8 days now in a small tray with a dome. I spray them twice a day, since 2 days with light nutrient solution. I keep the vents open for 1-2 hours per day. Since the last 2 days there are some signs of nutrient deficiencies- they can be seen on the photos. The plants are about 8-10 inches from a 120 watt(equivalent) CFL(1600 lumen). Unfortunately no signs of roots on any of them- I put them in rooting powder when I took the cuttings. Today I soaked the peat pellets with light nutrient solution. PH, strain and so on- I have no idea of them, this are my first plants.

My question is- is all this normal? Can they survive like this? What should I do now?

Totally normal. They always look a little worse for the wear until they are fully rooted and eating and drinking again. Keep spraying them and be patient.

The one point you might want to change is you way way too much light. I use about 20% as much wattage to clone. More light is not better here.

Also, in the future, just use water. Cuttings don't need food.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply! How long does it usually take for them to start rooting? And should I let the pellets dry out a bit, because they have been quite soaked from the beginning?

rooting depends on your environment and a lot of other factors. But on average you should see roots in 7-10 days. If they take longer then I would scrap them, but that's just me. AS far as the pellets being soaked...... hell no man, never gonna root if they stay saturated, there isn't any air and you will most likely experience dampening off or pythium if conditions are warm, lack of air and too wet. I use 1:1 perlite/vermiculite and let them shits get dry and ever so slightly moisten with spray bottle every once in a while. I have roots in under 10 days. But people dont like to listen to me or even follow my threads and ask cultivation questions. I guess you have to be clicky or a kid in high school to have commenting viewers.

That is left over from the rooting powder. The leaves on some of them have curled up and ripped apart a bit- on the lower leaves. I left them without the dome overnight, so that the pellets can dry out a bit. Is that with the leaves still normal?
