if you get cfl's make sure you get 1 cool white and 1 day white. the 2 of them together create the best lighting to veg in. your going to get a y splitter anyway so go with one off each. do your best to keep even numbers of each. you wont be disappointed

Any proof to this? From what I've read, the 2700k bulbs don't help much with actually vegging but may help stem growth or are you talking more of a 5000K bulb mixed with a 6500k bulb?

twist... that is what I read... There is a really good thread on CFLs ad really the right answer is it depends. I hate that answer but if you do your homework you can get what you need for a reasonable range and wont burn as much electric with a ballast and HIDs. I would prefer HIDs and a bigger area, but that is not reality for me. Therefore my food for thought is put as many 26-40 Watt all around your plant and use the 5,000 and 6,500 during Veg and use the 2,700K during flower. some do mix the 5,000 in there, but mainly stick to the 2,700. I think this is what I am going to do. I will have 8 lamps running on at most two plants probably a mix of 26 and 40 Watt CFLs using the 6,500K in veg ( as I am starting now with a couple plants) and I will switch to 8 X 2,700K with a mix of 26 and 40 Watt CFL lamps.

First time for me, so who knows. I'll post when I find that link.
