i am thinking of adding a 300w red spectrum cfl to my 600w hps. i am 6 weeks into flowering, all is well but could a little more harm at this point??

any views, questions, ideas very welcome... thanks. xrep:mrgreen

I'm assuming you mean a 300w 2700k.
The red spectrum is for flower formation, you did your homework.
It will work just fine as additional light.
Keep the bulb a couple inches away from the plant.
CFL bulbs are meant to be as close as possible without burning.
Adding a fan pointed at the bulb will help remove excess heat and allow the bulb to be even closer.

CFL are great for adding some extra lower lighting or for getting a certain branch to get nice and fat. Just like C.Indica said, keep it nice and close to what ever you want the light to be on and you should notice an improvement for the better. Just don't let the leafs touch the light.
