Hey sorry if this has been asked before

but i have 2 barneys pineapple express autoflower seeds in the germinating process as we speak, and i am looking for CFL lighting, i have come across a 100watt CFL lightsb that i have been told would do the job, (not looking for super professional setups and gear [just yet;p])

so my question is will 4 or 5 of these

do the job as well as this for example

and a little description of my plan is, to grow inside a "built-in" closed inside my room, there is not much ventilation but i do plan on putting a fan inside and leaving the door open as much as i can so there is air flow

and i have a few plans i would like to put in production for undercover grow ops, but as a student your limited to cash and resources (in my case atleast)

any help would be appreciated! and please bare with me this is my first grow, and noob mistakes are bound to happen but i would be more then happy to avoid them! :D

Why not use the cheaper ones (23w 6500/2700k) your local hw store will have em pretty cheap. Get a bunch of pre-wired sockets with y splitters and you're good to go.

How big is your closet? I've been having problems with the temps leaving it closed (and it even has an ac vent inside :0 ) so you may wanna consider venting somehow.

It was a pain, but I just put in intake and exhaust fans, and well... I'm letting them run and looks good so far.

Hey thanks for getting back to me!

the only reason i am debating about which ones to get is because i am not sure if (4 of) the cheaper ones all together would produce sufficient enough light/lumen as the single 100W lamp would.
if the case is that i can use the 25W ones, i will most likely even get more then so i can make some form of platform that i can move up and down to adjust the height

and the measurements of my closet are: 50x100x140
i am however only planning on using, 50x50x120

and i think it will be to much of a construction job if i wanna start adding ventilation systems in the closet, like i said it is "built-in" to the house so it's hard

Well, the idea behind a cfl grow if I understand correctly is that the light will dissipate much much more than a hid system so 4 23w lights all around daily being adjusted would be more efficient than 1 100w on top. The sides get little to no light this way. But 4 100w's, that might be good, but pricey.

mhmm okay okay after some research i think i might just go with 4 23W lamps
since it's what comes out cheapest for me
lets hope something good comes out of it ! staying postive ya know!

and i like your box btw it looks really well done, way better then what i have planned,
when i am that far i will post some pix

Spend the extra Euros and get the single larger unit. Much easier to handle and perfect for 2 plants. You won't be sorry when you really start setting it all up. Or use 4 smaller ones and have to buy 4 fixtures and dealing with 4 cords (next thread "Can I plug a bunch of. . . . ?)

Correct sir, 5500k for veg and then the 2700k for flower. With addition to the 5500k you can add a couple 6500k in with it, but the 5500k are a dual spectrum. Of course you want more of the blue/purple hue as opposed to red for veg. Not a required deal tho, but a preferred of course.

haha yeah it is no need to be sarcastic. i was talking about rebelfield and him saying to double his wattage at the 12-12 switch not the spectrum discussion. Sorry if i anxwered outside my capabilities though just trying to help

Given me a bunch to think about and 're-research' to see if i can find a good deal like the 4pack for 40dollars
And dont expect a noob thread about wiring, light info was all i needed and was what i was asking for no need for extra useless shenaniganz <3

The issue with using a single big bulb vs multi smaller bulbs is going to be heat. Also with multi you can cover more ground, IMO

alright i have begun with 2 seeds, only 1 sprouted so far
and i am using 2 x 23W cfl , all i could buy for now but good enough for me to experiment with!

Should i get this thread deleted/closed and start a new one with a log?
or just continue here?
