....wilting clones....

.....I'm sort of new to indoor growing and cloning as well....my success rate for clones is very high....I'm using the spongy pods with a pre-made holes down the center with a dome....time and time again it seems I go thru some severe wilting to where they actually lay down within 24 hours.....can someone tell me the primary reason for this.....thank you all in advance for the help.....:-?

is there condensation on your dome when it is on???.......or I guess I should say does it form on its own, naturally..temps? lights?

....I mist the dome 2 times a day.....ph in water is 6.3.....sometimes they lay down and sometimes they don't.....for whatever reason I'm not able to master this part....room temp is at 77 degrees and using florescent light above the dome.....my success rate is in the high 90's but I panic everytime they lie down.....

You "rank up" the more posts you have. I think I'm a pot head now (more than a decade wasn't enough lol). As for the clones, they just do that sometimes. The humidity could be too high. Like the other poster said, if there is condensation on the top of your dome that's too much! If there isn't, give them a day or two and they may stand back up for you.
*Also, if you leave too much leaf on there (more than just the top two developed ones), it may just bee too much for them to handle without a root system.

soooo whats the temperature??? if you don't know, thats your problem... don't mist the dome and put it in a room thats 78-82 degrees condensation will naturally form on the dome and things willl work out....if condensation is not naturally forming your humidity is not high enough, if your temp is not high enough water will not evap into the air rising your humidity. misting does not work, i'm sure plenty of people will argue that but it really is more trouble than it's worth. naturally occoring condensation and lift the dome 2 times a day maybe after a week start leaving it off for 5-10 min when checking on them

....thanks for the help.....you're not the first person to tell me that misting does not work....what should the room temp be for optimum conditions......

I keep a heating pad under mine set for 70 degrees, and a fan blowing across the top, and they've never laid down.

....average 77 to 80 degrees.....I service my grow room and veg room with the same thru wall AC unit so the morning temp will get to about 77 and afternoon temp of about 82 to 84.....

that should be warm enough to form condensation without misting... most wilting is from lack of moisture. it may be that the strain your growing doesn't like being cloned. I would stop misting and if the problem persists it just might be one of those hard to clone plants... they do exist. don't keep to many leaves on the clone and you can even try cutting the big fan leaves in half...

You have to put a fan blowing across the top of your dome, if not, condensation will not form inside the dome....Put a heating pad under your clones, make sure temps are between 75-80, put a small fan on low blowing over the top, not at it, but over it so it cools the top dome, condensation will occur and your clones will be fine if you do this....

EDIT: Get some books and read...best advice I was ever given...but ya gota take the good advice to grow right..

Funny that misting doesn't work, because I only mist and they get enough water this way to stay alive for weeks (if needed) to form roots. I got rid of my dome because I tired of seeing my stems rot away time and time again (which always followed wilting). Simply rock wool in an ice tray on a heat mat. No lid. Best results I've had. I think it all depends on you system and what works FOR YOU. And 100% humidity (that's when condensation continually forms) at all times is going to rot them, idc what anyone says. 80-90% I'm sure is optimal, but I think the temperature where the roots are going to form is only second in importance to your cuts.

Never tried a fan over the top of the dome. Maybe that makes the difference I needed

didn't realize it until now but I have a fan blowing over the top of my dome...unintentionally. my clones are in my veg cabinetjust pushed into the back underneath the fan, out of the way....

lol..I read all James Pattersons books and Dean Koonts, then I went to Dragon Lance Novels to take me away for awile...(9-1/2 years worth)...But marijuana basics & the grow bible made me not ask so many...questions I was gona say stupid questions, but their are no stupid questions unless you ask it 3 times..lol

EDIT: Not all at once, a 5pc and a 4-1/2pc...I'm done...lol

It also sounds like you may be taking the thinnest wispiest cuttings. Better success cloning when the stem is much thicker and can support its own weight more.
