Wilting leaves/yellow decay HELP! (pics)

Attempting a closet grow. Closet size is 4ft x 4ft and about 8 ft high.

Ive got a 600Watt (mor watts than i would preffer but the light sor of fellinto my lap) HPS light hanging about 5 ft above the plant.

Closet door generally remains open and i have 2 mini fans circulating the air within the closet and one larger fan blowing upwards in the space.

Water every 2 days, w/ nutrients about every 4.

Plant was started using natural light and recently moved to this new HPS light setup and about 2 days in the leaves began to look a bit leathery and wilt.

Any suggestions about the setup or anything would be helpful? Hopefully someone has answers for me!

mine did this was moved from sunlight to artificial light, its not wilting as much now after a week think it may be adjusting to its new inviroment

Do u have a thermometer in there?
I bet it is well over 100F if u don't have an exhaust fan
In that case, it's heat stress....

Yeah i had the light way too close at first and it got well over 100 within a few hours so we raised the light and the temp. seems to be staying right around 85. is that still too hot?

Keep in mind this is m very first indoor grow so i'm open to any and all suggestions.

Also, if the plant was burnt during the time is was too hot will it recover?

im having a similar problem.can they recover after alot of heat stress?

You have a few problems...like it's stretched as fuck. 5' above the plants is too far. Your ideal temp should be 75F day 70F night. Humidity should be no more the 60%...around 50 is good for veg...and around 45 flower.

More info would be helpful...like what you feed...how often your PH, PPM etc........!!!!

I actually just use use commercial nutrients, i think its a 24 - 8 - 16. I have only used it a few times. To be honest when the plant was originally growing under natural light we added no nutrients, only tap water to the soil every 2 days. I have yet to check the pH since we got this new light. I'll try and pick up a pH meter today. And at the risk of sounding uneducated, how do i check my PPM?

I wasnt planning on getting too serious about this plant, but now that ive got the light i want to try to make it work. This light is so powerful hanging it any closer to the plant seems to burn it. Any suggestions on what i can do to get the light closer without doing damage?

Also, Im just going to figure my nutrients isnt the proper formula, what suggestions do you guys have about what to feed a plant in soil?

Is there a way to monitor the humidity in the closet?

And as far as ventilation goes, I want to be able to close my closet door so i can open up my blinds and window and get some fresh air in here. If i was to install an exhaust fan in the top of the shut closet door and an cooling intake fan near the bottom of the door would the closet be properly ventilated enough to stay remotely cool? Suggestions?

To be honest this is a classic rookie mistake. Read up on growing before you start...that way your not asking so many questions. We are here to help people...not teach them HOW to grow.

You have to many questions...and that's a bad sign...your PPM is measured with a PPM meter(TDS). Your venting should be ok...but it would be better if you could have the door oopen a few hours a day for lots of fresh air, and for the closet to stay cool.

You should NEVER feed tapwater to plants unless it has sat out for a min of 24 hours for the chlorine to disapate. You should be feeding at almost full dosage of what the label recommends, looking at the size of the plants.

Hummidty can be measured with a normal temp/hummidty monitor that you can buy at any wal-mart.
