Windsheild Reflector As Grow Box Liner???

Recently i have begun my quest to build a growdrobe. Originally I had planned to just triple coat the inside in killz but now i think I may have found a better idea i just want some input from the gurus i know can be found in these forums. Not sure if I'm calling it the right thing but what I'm considering is lining the box in car windshield reflectors. They appear to be like a textured mylar on both sides with a thin layer of foam in the middle. seems perfect to me, The foam makes it a lot stronger so i can staple it without any problems, It also provides a light barrier to keep the light in the box. I have lined my small clone/seedling box already and as an unexpected benefit i swear it helps to deaden the noise of the fans as well. So please tell me, Is there any reason i shouldn't use them as opposed to just painting it white???
Thanks

I have often wondered about those. I don't know if the waffling they have will effect reflectivity or not. I think they would be easy to work with as you mentioned. I used to use several of them when I drove for an expediting company. The do deaden sound also. Kills is not flat white paint. VV

They are used to put in the windshield of your parked car to keep the heat down. I know you have seen them in use. Some have pictures on them etc. Cost about $5.00 normally, you can get them on closeout for around $2.00 this time of year. VV

Dankie, I'm Referring to the reflective mats people use to in there cars to keep the car from getting to hot inside while its parked and prevent the dash from cracking. And Victor Vicious you are absolutely right and i cant believe i hadn't caught that. Thank you for pointing that out.

The reflector should be a better idea than white paint for a few reasons. The only thing to be concerned about is hot spots. Mostly thats for people with HID lights in a small area and the light reflects back and burnes the leaves. Post up some pics when your project starts.

I'm currently lining my cold concrete floor with reflectors.

Now it makes sense. I was like what the hell do they put in windshields that you can't see through. Way for me to think outside the box! I guess it would work, the inside of my reflector is pebbled! The inside of the pre-made grow cabinets have a material that is much like it.

Here's the pic.sorry

I mean. If it is mentioned in 420 magazine it must be do-able.
I would imagine you could use them. Place one under your light and look at it. If it makes you blind, I guess it's a go. There are so many varying degrees of reflectivity on those things. and they tend not to be perfectly flat.

i used them in my 5 gallon grow bucket and in a 50 gallon grow bucket no issues and seen faster growth then in my flat white painted rubber made totes. they grew so fast they out grown containers faster then my totes. but go to a dollar store i got them for a buck a piece and i just used hot melt glue gun to attach. dont get the ones that have cardboard in them if u dont have flat walls

homedepot sells what they call a radiant barrier. its a type of reflective insulation with a r value of nine i believe i need look again. anyway the come in roles. the biggest role is 25ft long and 4ft wide for $50. it 1/4 inch thick very simular to bubble wrap but it shiny like mylar. it is what i use istead of mylar for the extra insulation it ofers and it supposedly helps hide you from f.l.a.r.e.
