My house is way hotter than the usual 60-65 degrees it should be for drying out a plant. It's usually at 73, 70 at the lowest, even if I wanted to I can't push the thermostat lower than 65. And it's fucking 90 degree weather! My last grow was complete shit and now I have hay weed. I don't want that to happen again. Anyways, Lowe's has wine coolers for sale which would take care of temps, but what about humidity? Is that an issue at all? I want to try for a slow dry and I know the plant should have its own internal humidity, but what would a wine cooler do to affect this process? I don't hear of ppl doing this, so prob there's a reason, but why?
And since you're already here, here's the method that, as far as I know, is what I should do. Any thoughts on how to improve are greatly appreciated.
Chop it, hang in cool environment exactly as is for 48 hours.
Remove large fan leaves, leave hanging until stems almost are breaking. Then trim, break down and place in large containers. Monitor RH. When its at 65% consistently, put in jars and start the cure.
Also, I need to know more about the state the plant should be in before I pull out the scissors. With my last plant I watered it one last time then waited about 2-3 days to dry out, then I chopped. I think that was probably really stupid. Probably sucked out the moisture inside, and then there's my furnace of a house. The buds are crispy as shit, and they fucking reek of nastiness. It sucks. Gets you high though.
I also put it in total darkness for a good 36 hours I think. I think I read somewhere that was a good thing to do but I don't know why...
