Winter outdoor harvest in SoCal, is it possible?

I hear you, was born raised in northern MN and left in the 80’s.

I'm in So cal too. Did an outdoor run 2 years ago, same deal as you, vegged inside and flowered outside. My flower cycle was January 3rd thru about March 3rd, so right in the coldest time for us. I am clos eto the coast though, less than a mile, so I dont have the frost factor ever. does it EVER frost there in the mornings? If you arent too far east, you could easily pull it off as I did with little care as if it were a summer/in season crop.

I'm about 6 miles from the coast. Frost isn't an issue here, just morning dew some days. I can tell my plants don't like our winters, but they don't die. Just grow slowly. Of course the angle of the sun means less energy for 'em too, but ya can still get a harvest. And with a perpetual grow with out mothers, that helps.
Yours certainly look very nice...and tasty.

I'm in NW Florida, where we do have a winter. But I usually grow year round when possible. Fall/winter and winter/spring grows are among my favorites. Less rain here in winter. The buds are not always as fat due to less sunlight. And they usually start to flower as soon as they go out, or in my case, become sexually mature. That makes for smaller plants. But worth the time.

where you growing them from seed or clone?

Clones. Getting clones in colder temps with a no heat household is tough however.

right. I’m thinking about popping seed and vegging myb for 3-4 weeks and then popping them in the back yard

Yeah, it will work. Just don't expect huge yields compared to summer growth. Best of luck.

You should get at least an oz per plant this way. Winter buds are a little lighter due to the sun not being as strong.

That’s it a zip? Man I would think at least 4. They should get big enough no? I’m in San Diego where the winters are still pretty warm (as I fb you don’t know) I’m just shocked to see you say only a zip.

Hi brother, I grow in a beach in the Mexican Pacific (still in Northern Hempisphere), and normally seed in autumn/winter. Why? Because I grow in my balcony and from mid March to Mid August I get no direct sunlight due to the sun's position way above my building. In autumn/winter I get about 7 hours of direct sunlight, considering that, I once harvested a plant that yielded 5 ounces dry grown on soil in a 2 gal pot after keeping her vegging for a bit more than 2 months. In fact, I see no challenges, and I keep them vegging and growing by adding a 3watt led for a few hours when sun goes down to prevent them from flowering too soon. So yeah, go for it, my 2 cents.
