I got myself a td-150 to ventilate my closet grow space as well as cool my brand new cooltube.

This fan has a "pre wired junction box" I dont even know where to begin to wire this thing.. I want to wire it so I can plug it into a mult outlet. help me out? lol

What you got there is a terminal block
1- positive/negative terminal (black)
2- positive/negative terminal (black)
3- ground wire (brown)

Since it's an AC motor, it doesn't matter which way you plug the wires in. So get a cable with a plug on the end and three wires, and your good to go. or hookup a speed controller, then the plug from the controller.

I am trying to install the same fan, S&P TD-150, so I figured bumping this thread would be the best way to get an answer to my question.

There is a very good thread by Mogie that demonstrates how to splice the wires and connect them to a stripped extension cord, but I'm still a bit confused by that little 6 pronged silver thing that the three wires for this particular fan are sitting in.

Should the extension cord wires be connected to the corresponding wires on the fan and housed inside that 6 pronged silver thing, or should I remove the fan's wires from that plastic piece and crimp them to the extension cord like Mogie demonstrated?

Another stumbling block arose when I began looking at extension cords.

I noticed that most cords are listed as 16/3 or 16/2, and after consulting a Wire-gauge ampacity chart, I learned that that means they can handle 13 amps.

Now there is also this cord which at 14/3 should be able to handle 17 amps and it is also listed as an A/C cord.

However, upon looking at my circuit breaker, I see that my outlets are 20 amps.

This cord is 12/3 so it should be able to handle 23 amps, but it is only 2 feet long. Then there is this cord which is also 12/3 and 9 feet long. Alas, it is 250V.

Looking at all these cords is giving me a headache--none of them seem to work. Or maybe the amp capacity doesn't actually matter? I'm pretty sure the voltage does, though.

Someone please help me out...the last thing I want to do is burn down my apartment building.:-(

That round thing with the threaded bit on the end is a Capacitor. I'm not sure why it has a threaded bit like that. I also don't like how they ship the fan without the little screws or clamp/cover for where the wire pass through to secure them to the fan.

Anyways, I have a 2 wire indoor extension cord I'd like to hack and use as a power cord. The plug ends are not polarized, so they can be plugged in any way. From what I read here, an AC fan can be plugged in either way and it will still run the same direction? So it's safe to use my 2 wire cord and just wire it up to whichever and it will run?

Thanks

Didn't know if the other person had figured it out but the thingy I htink they are refering to is the junction box. You just unscrew the other side and insert your wire and tighten it back down. Two hots and a ground. Need more info I'll be happy to answer the best I can.
